So, I've read about the different kinds of cloth diapers, and I think I have it down. But as soon as I go to find all of the things I'll need to start with, there are so many options. How on earth did you figure out what kind you wanted to go with, and what brand(s)??
Can you tell me:
1. What type you use?
2. What brand and
3. What ultimately helped you decide to go with those decisions

1. All in One, One size
2. Bum Genius, Elemental
3. I think you have to figure out your priorities. Mine was that I needed it to be easy. Otherwise, I knew my hubby woulnd't go for it, and I didn't want to waste all that money buying diapers just to give up on them. I figured with All in One, I wouldn't have to spend any time sorting laundry, it's already done for you. And with one size I figured I'd save in some money because they'll last her until she's potty trained (hopefully!)

I have chosen to go with Freetime diapers by Bum Genius. They are an all in one diaper so no stuffing, inserts, covers or prefolds required. They are a one size diaper which means they are adjustable to fit different sizes so we wont have buy new sizes as the baby grows. They are a bit more expensive than others but I think its worth it. Its just as easy as a disposable diaper. I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews and decided that the this was the right diaper for us
ETA they have semi-detachable inserts so speed up drying time

@BabyBoecksMom: Oh I dont have any advice about the actual wear I havent bought mine yet they are being newly released next week. But I know they last long because a lot of people buy used cloth diapers and still get a lot of wear out of them.

Bumgenius Elementals for me too. Natural fibers last longer, as do snaps. Meaning they'll last from just-after-newborn size to... whenever all our kids are out of diapers. The AIO style was kind of essential to me, for the same reason as Artbee. So we can spend a total of $900 on diapers for at least 4 years, instead of $5000 ($7500 if we have three.)
The Freetime line is a little cheaper, but they are line-dry only.

2. BumGenius 4.0 are my favorites. I ordered some of the BG Freetimes, and will get those soon.
3. Ease of use was my main consideration. I knew that if it was too complicated, I would give up.

Grovia AI2 hybrids for the day. We use Grovia cloth inserts, prefolds, and the disposible inserts.
Drybees Nighttime pockets for night. We stuff these with prefolds and gCloth with hemp.
3. What ultimately helped you decide to go with those decisions
We tried a few different brands to start. These fit the earliest and had the most options. I like that we can wash inserts and don't have to wash as many diapers. Daddy likes them because they are easy enough to use. We like that we can customize how we use them for what we need.

@cyneswith: I actually sent them a mesasge on their facebook page asking about the Freetime and they responded and said you can put them in the dryer on low heat. but the line dry option guarantees longer life.

3. other bloggers' recommendations helped me decide. I did have one BG AIO but didn't like it because it took so long to dry, and I like the flexibility of pockets (you can change up the inserts). Stuffing them is another step though, but it's a quick one.
You could always do one of the trial programs where you get to try out different types and brands... I was too anxious to get everything set up but that would probably be the smart thing to do!

@ohapostrophe: Yes, those AIOs take a long time to dry. Mine have a smell too, that I'm planning to strip tomorrow, but we'll see what happens.

Fuzzibunz, TotsBots, Happy Heiny, Good Mama, Babykicks, Itti Bitti, Oh Katy, Rumparooz, Grovia, Blueberry, Kissaluv, Swaddlebees....and I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I could go on! One of my dear friends (if you're reading this, you know who you are!)and I talk about CDing all the time & have fun trying out all the different brands.
Why: Overall, I love Bum Genius 4.0's with snaps for upkeep, ease of use & how well they work!!
