We are only a month or so into solids but we do just what you described: cloth diapers all go in the same wet bag. Smell has not been an issue so far. When we get home, i spray out the poop diapers and then wash as normal. Solids have made the poops less frequent but that may change. It hasnt been as big of a deal as i had feared.

DS is 15 months old, and we use cloth full time. When we added solids to his diet, his poops became less frequent and were much more formed. I thought I got lucky to pass over having to scrape or rinse diapers since I could just knock the poop into the toilet. Then DS was on antibiotics and every single poop was a messy/soft.

Daycare would knock the poop into the toilet if it would roll off the diaper before dropping it into the wetbag. When things got messy again, she just put the entire thing in the wetbag and I dealt with it at home. I tried liners, but they tended to bunch up and I was still scraping/rinsing the diaper so I stopped using them.

Even with messy poop diapers, the stink hasn't been that bad. I do use bleach on my diapers every 4-6 washes or so. She usually rolls up the diapers, so I use the wetbag 2-3 days in a row before washing it with a load of diapers. If you sniff it on purpose when the wetbag is open, you can smell the diapers, but otherwise is contains the smell well.

@autumnlove: It really hasn't been a big deal! The teachers are pretty good about folding the diapers in on themselves so I can go through the bag and sort the wet from the dirty without getting too messy, so we haven't needed to tweak our routine. I haven't noticed any smell issues with the wet bags--I think they contain things pretty well.

We use liners which they just throw away with the wipes so that takes care of a lot of the mess. Sometimes they do forget to put in a liner and I get a dirty diaper but they are great about folding up the diaper like a dirty disposable so the poo doesn't get all over the other diapers in the bag.
