Hi All,
CD Mommas, I need your help.
I have been CDing since week 3 with LO. I love it, dont find it to be a ton of extra work at all and am happy CDing!
I use a wipe warmer and disposable wipes, however when building my stash I purchased cloth wipes (fun frilly fabric prints, I really should use them!) but for some reason I feel intimidated to begin using them.
What is your using cloth wipes routine or set up, help me get going on this, it is silly....I realize!

I throw cloth wipes into a sink full of water, wring them out and dump them in my wipe warmer! Super easy and I just toss them in my diaper pail with the dirty diapers.

I wish I had made the jump to cloth wipes a lot sooner than I did. They work so much better than disposable and are easy peasy. I always used plain water and would dampen about 6 at a time and put them in a travel wipes case and refill as needed. I rarely did more than 6 at a time (only during sickness and diarrhea when I knew we'd be changing frequently) so I never had to worry about mold or mildew issues.

I use sposies but cloth wipes - I take 2 c plain water, 2 tbsp of baby wash, 2 tbsp of baby oil (or melted aloe or coconut oil) and 4-6 drops tea tree oil. I 3x the batch and store it in a plastic container. I fill my wipes box with wipes, dump some of the solution on top and use as needed.

When DS was really little he didn't like anything cold, so we kept the wipes in a warmer with only water. I wasn't a fan of the moist wipes sitting in the warmer, so we eventually used it for storage only and would wet each wipe when needed. This worked great! We did the same while out - stored dry, wet to use and store in wetbag. We could only use water due to allergies per our pedi and allergist recommendations, but that is really all you need!

@pelikila: Also easy, and I think for what we have going on now, I will just use wipe warmer, instead of travel wipe pack -but of course would use that on the go and then just dump everything into wet bag. Really makes SO much more sense to use cloth wipes on the go too, as when I am out and about, and use sposie wipes I put them with the dipe in wet bag and have to pick them out later.
@Ms.SK: Solution seems less easy (but still not hard at all), I think I had myself thinking I had to use a solution and perhaps that is what was deterring me. Why a solution and not just water? Strictly curious, I am open to both options at this point.

@anbanan15: Awesome, thank-you. You wet wipes at a sink pre-change? My issue with that (just thinking of our normal here) is that if I want warm water our warm water takes a year to come out the tap and it seems like a lot of wastage, so if I did that it would be a cold water damp wipe, which I am not opposed to, just different from now, and clearly she is fine with a cold wipe when we are out and about.

I just have a spray bottle and spray his butt then dry wipe and toss in with dupe! He's still ebf so I use a dry wipe first to get poo off. Super easy.

They are so much easier! I dont even use a wipes warmer, just wet a dozen at a time and keep them in an open tupperware container. Then I throw the container in the dishwasher every few days. I just use water for mine, my kids skin is happiest that way.

Cloth wipes with cloth diapers is so much easier! We were making a solution and putting the wipes in an old disposable container, but that got to be too much work for us. Now I have the wipes sitting in an old disposable wipe container with the top popped off and a spray bottle next to it. I spray a wipe a few times and then start the diaper change. I also notice that it only takes one wipe to clean LO, where it may have taken 2 disposable ones.
We use a solution similar to @Ms.SK. I mix water, oil, baby soap, and some California Baby bum spray in the bottle and shake it up. I just eyeball it and use mostly water. We only put in soap because DH thought LO's bum wasn't getting "clean" enough with just water.

@Beebug: We did wet per change. Our water takes forever to get warm too! At first I would let it run a little before we started to change him, but DS eventually got used to it being cooler as he got older and it wasn't as big of an issue. We did use the warmer for a few months in the beginning when he really hated things cold...I just stopped using it as soon as we were able to for my own comfort level.

I forgot to say: with the water in a spray bottle it comes to room temperature, so it's not exactly warm but it's not cold either. LO doesn't seem to mind!

We just keep a basket of wipes and a full spray bottle of water by the table. Spray her butt then wipe. Easy peasy.

I also just use a spray bottle to spray her tushy, use a dry wipe to wipe it off, and toss the wipe in where her dirty diapers go.

@MrsCB: I think 25-30...we use a mix of thick wipes for poops and thin wipes for pee. It doesn't look neat but it gets the job done. We use them up pretty fast...I also use wipes to clean up LO's arms and hands after meals.

@autumnlove: Love the pic, thank-you. I think I am going to copy you and give it a go! Love the idea of thicker wipes for poops, I have some terry cloth wipes I could use for that and my pretty cloth wipes I bought for pees!

I have the cloth wipes in a stack on the changing table and a spray bottle of water (we also have california baby diaper area wash handy if it's extra yucky) and I just spray the wipe when I need to use it. So easy and no disposable wipes mixed in with the diaper laundry!

Do it, do it, do it! Cloth wipes are awesome. I use peri-bottles. I had to get some use out of them since I had a c/s and had already purchased them as part of my home birth kit. They work well. I also use bum wash bits (by delish). I was making my own solution using baby wash and essential oil, but I got lazy. Which is really pathetic. But also true. The bum wash bits also smell awesome and I store them in with Lowly's clothes so her clothes smell fabulous, too. They seem to be gentle-- we have lots of sensitive/dry skin around our house and no one has been bothered (we have used them on dirty hands, etc. as well as for diaper changes). I let the solution sit in the peri bottle so it is at room temperature and we've never had an issue with it feeling too cold. I had considered a wipe warmer, but there were so many mixed reviews, even on the "good" ones that it just seemed like something we could skip. I prefer the thicker ones myself.

Cloth wipes are the best! We have an air pot (the kind for coffee where you press a button at the top) that we fill with warm water for the wipes. The temperature stays nice and warm for at least 24 hours, sometimes longer.

Cloth wipes are even easier than cloth diapers IMO! I have the dry cloth wipes in a basket and before using it, I spray them with a mix of water and kissaluvs diaper potion. I have 36 cloth wipes and wash them along with our cloth diapers, every other day.

We keep the wipes in the drawer with the diapers, so we just grab them when we grab a new diaper. Right now, we are using California Baby's diaper area wash and spraying as we go.

LO has never minded cold water on his tush, so we use a spray bottle and dry wipes. It's always worked really well for us.

Next to my changing pad I have a basket that I keep my dry wipes in, and a spray bottle that I have my wipe solution in.
I spray the wipe before I change her diaper.
My wipe solution is half cup baby wash, and then fill the rest of the spray bottle with water.
I LOVE cloth wipes! If I ever get tired of cloth and go back to disposables, I will still use cloth wipes!

@Mole: they are CHEAP. And mine have lasted for a full year as of Saturday. I keep one in the diaper bag. It does stay upright, which I'm sure helps prevent leaks, but it hasn't ever leaked on me. The other one sits on the changing table.

I find that using a home made solution gets S's bum cleaner, especially now that he is solids fed. I use a squirt each of baby wash and oil, and about 6 drops of tea tree oil in a 2 cup measuring cup, fill with warm water and stir and then dump that in my wipe warmer, I toss a big stack of folded wipes in there, and they soak up all the solution, and I launder with my cloth dipes. I don't measure the stuff in the solution at all other than mixing it in a 2 cup measuring cup! I use disposables for travelling, but I might switch to dry wipes and a spray bottle of solution I make at home for on the go.
