My option isn't there. I put her in a thin fleece coat in the car seat.

other -- she wears a fleece bunting similar to this that is thin enough to be worn in the car seat. BEST purchase ever. she's warm and safe.

I put him a light, fleece lined wind-breaker like jacket over a hooded fleece pull-over, and throw a blanket over him. Possibly still too puffy but we have an old car that takes forever to heat and when it does, the backseat doesn't get very much of it. I'm trying to balance keeping him warm enough when it's ass-cold outside and keeping him safe in his seat.

DS has a fleece bunting as well. Not too bulky.

I usually put the coat on after we've arrived at our destination, but sometimes, when we're doing errands, I have put him on in his coat between stops and I hate myself for it every time.

We have a fleece bunting also. I love it, and he looks so darn cute in it!!

When it was -41 with windchill this week and the car still isn't warm after running for however long, my kid being warm is just as important as their safety in the straps. I am very diligent with her in her winter coat to have straps perfectly straight/as they should be and that straps pulled as tight as possible. Her not having a coat on this cold on the way to the car/in the car just looks foolish, the coat stayed on and in she went safe and sound!

Luckily our weather never gets too terrible (the coldest it ever gets here was the cold snap last week of 30) and so a fleece coat always works fine. She wears it in the car seat... anything thicker than that and I put it on afterwards.

I always take DD out of her puffy coat but if it is chilly she wears a thin fleece hoodie to keep her warm and I put the coat on top of her. I actually just had a... "discussion".. with my mom about this because she thinks I am freezing her granddaughter and doesn't understand why I take off the coat. I've explained to her the safety reasoning and she says "but so many people do it and you wear your coat sometimes!". How do you fight with that? I still won't keep her in her coat and rather tuck her coat on top of her, but I will never hear the end of it from my mother.

We usually strap her in then pile blankets on her but, I'm not going to lie, there have been occasions in the last few weeks when I have put her in the car seat wearing her snow suit......

We honestly haven't driven many places when it's super cold anyway, but I do blankets and a car seat cover bundling thing. We have a fleece snowsuit but it's really bulky so I def wouldn't drive with it on. We also have indoor parking so the car is t super cold when we get in.

C wears a thin wool peacoat. It's thin enough to fit under her straps without adjusting them.
