Twerking is really dumb...but banning it is just silly.
It's a fad. It'll pass.

the heck? agree with @Danizaur, eventually it'll pass.

@.twist.: Oxford just added it to the dictionary: dance to popular music in a sexually provocative manner involving thrusting hip movements and a low, squatting stance...Miley Cyrus/ VMAs 2013

@.twist.: bending over and kind of grinding on someone. idk why they just created a name for it! lol.

@.twist.: please tell me you saw the VMAs! that's what Miley did..twerk, twerk.

@sorrycharlie: I thought that was just grinding... man I am getting old.

I think I saw a lot of "twerking" at college frat parties...I didn't think it was a new thing!

@autumnlove: @mrbee: haha yeah..I don't get why there's all of a sudden a new name for it!

@.twist.: http://www.buzzfeed.com/lyapalater/the-weirdest-and-craziest-moments-from-miley-cyrus-vma-pe #5 and 14! lol. and yes..definitely missed out. I'd youtube it if you want about 6 minutes of, omg.

@autumnlove: seriously. And at clubs when we were 22. This isn't a new "thing".
Where's Kevin Bacon when you need him?!

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Just read that article, and they mention that there hasn't been a ban?
<< In a statement to Business Insider, a Hampton spokesperson denied that the university had banned the sexy dance move, and said the word was only used "to get students' attention" in a presentation on sharing infomation and photos on social media. >>

@mrbee: yes, thank you for reading the article...I first saw the article on a blog with the headline "ban" and then searched for the source. Yes, this wasn't a real ban, just a tongue and cheek warning about having a decent online presence.
The fact a college even put this in a slide show seems silly. The second bullet point about men do not take twerkers home to meet their mothers rubbed me the wrong way and perpetuated the myth women go to college only to earn their MRS degree.

@autumnlove: Exactly. We danced like this is college (I'm 32, so a long time go!). Not sure why it's a big thing now, maybe because it's mainstream.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Yah that wording was definitely not appropriate!

@MsMamaBear: Reproduction on the dance floor!
