My husband and I have an ongoing battle over Christmas lights. I like multicolored on the tree and he likes white. I think colored lights are cozier. My husband says they are trashy lol. We switch light colors every other year as a compromise

We do a 'theme' on our tree when it comes to colours. So right now it's red and white. Before we had blue and silver (which I HATED!). I think colours are cheery!

We put white on our tree now and I think it's pretty, but there is definitely something cozy and fun about colors. Reminds me of growing up in the 80s when we always had colored lights.

Costco has the coolest LED lights that can go from color all the way to white! I really want them! They even have a flash/twinkle setting.

Growing up my bro and I disagreed about the lights. My parents put both sets on the tree. We alternated which set we plugged in each night. That tree was definitely a fire hazard with over 1400 tiny bulbs.

Our tree comes with lights. I think multi is funner, but white is brighter!

I love white. I think they're so pretty. But DS1 picked colored a couple years ago so that's what we use for now because he and his brother love them. When we get a new tree we'll be getting a pre-lit and we'll get white lights though.

I prefer colored but I got white on our own tree because it is harder to find pre lit trees with colored lights and I wondered if the trend was going towards white lights and I'd like those better in the future. I make up for it with tons of colorful ornaments

The multicolored remind me of the 'classic' Christmas tree. We have multicolored on the majority of the tree except at the top where the angel is we put white lights around her to make her have that heavenly glow.

I like white the most, but am growing on the colored lights. Growing up, my Mom HATED colored lights, and also though that they were trashy looking, so I'm trying to get de-brainwashed.
I would REALLY love all purple lights, but I don't know that they sell those

I prefer white and DH prefers color. I think white is so pretty and classy looking, but I wouldn't say colored ones are trashy!

I agree with @hilsy85. Trashy is a bit harsh, but I do think white is a bit more classy. Same with blinking lights - constant is classier.

i like white but this year we went colored because i thought the kids would like it better!

WHITE! But, I think kids like colored more. I would ideally love to have a small tree for kids in the future (in their playroom type area) with fun colored lights and ornaments they make, and then the "nicer" tree in the living room with more of a motif and specific colored decorations, and white lights.

Colored! A couple of years ago my parents got a new pre lit Christmas tree and 2/3rds of the lights were white. My mom convinced my sister and I to help her replace all the white bulbs with colored, It took hours! But it was so worth it it looks much cozier now!

I love colored lights on a Christmas tree, but there is something really magical looking about a house with lots of white lights on the outside, especially when it snows. So I voted color, but I think once we have a house I will want white lights outside and colored inside

I prefer white, but I do like colored! Growing up, we had both on the tree. The white softened the colored a bit-I like that!
Outside, though, I'm a strictly white lights gal.

I flip-flop on this depending on my mood! I like white lights on the tree, though. But outside or other lights around the house I do like multicolored too. (Though we only have white lights everywhere)
