I've never bought ear plugs before, or even looked for them in stores. Are there different types, and which ones are comfortable?! I am such a light sleeper now, I might need a pair to wear when I'm not on baby duty!

We use these at work (i work in manufacturing)...so we're talking riveting and major pneumatic equipment. I use these at home, too: http://www.earplugstore.com/etaiin32.html
they're comfortable, cheap enough to replace (although I use them for a bit before replacing) and I can still hear E crying if she gets really worked up, but it does make it so I can STTN if DH is on baby duty (or snoring like crazy).

I use foam ear plugs too. I just buy a pack of 20 at the drug store and replace them every couple of weeks when they start to lose their efficacy. I can still hear the baby cry or fuss with no problems but it dulls sounds like my husband's snoring or the baby grunting so i can sleep.

Hah. Yes exactly what @blackbird: said. Should have just said +1 instead of writing it all out.

I use this kind. I really like them, and they help me sleep. Plus, I can still hear the kiddo if she cries.

@Meridian: these are my favorite! soft and comfortable (even for my tiny ear holes), and blocks out sound reallly well - http://www.amazon.com/Hearos-Ear-Plugs-Xtreme-Protection/dp/B000NP79YM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424287477&sr=8-1&keywords=ear+plugs
