My little man has been battling a stuffy nose since day one and I feel so bad for him but I don't know what to do. I have him sleep at an angle at night although I have been putting him flat in his crib for naps lately but I might stop, I steam the bathroom every night before bath, I use a humidifier, I use saline and I clear out his nose every night but he still wakes up stuffy the next morning. Does anyone have any suggestions? My doc says she thinks it is just a newborn stuffy nose and she said it should go away by two months but he is three months now. It is much better as he doesn't wake up struggling to breath anymore but it still bothers him. I asked if she thought he could be allergic to the dog but she said no. Does anyone have any thoughts or tips? Thanks!

My friend's son had a stuffy nose/ear infections until one year and they finally figured out it was a dairy allergy. I don't want to scare you, but might it be something to consider. If BFing take dairy out of your diet, if FFing, use soy formula. I hope you're able to keep your little man comfortable in the mean time!

My LO had a constant stuffy nose. He has MSPI and the stuffy nose didn't go away until I eliminated all dairy and soy from my diet. Is he particularly fussy? Does he have green/mucousy poops? Has he ever had any blood in his diaper?

My ped said to use saline sparingly, that it can dry out the nose and signal the body to make even more mucus if overused. I hope you find something that works soon!!

@jodyblair: He doesn't seem to fuss more than the average baby but that is something I will bring up with the pedi. He does spit up a lot but the doc also said that that could cause some of the stuffiness.
He is not stuffy 100% of the time. It mainly happens after sleeping.
@septemberlove: that's interesting! I use it a couple times a day because it always clears him out. I wish there was a clear answer on everything.

My LO's constant stuff nose was also due to MSPI.

This was my daughter. It was mostly after she started daycare though. She had a constant runny nose and cough for almost a year.
Once she got mobile and was moving around a lot it cleared up.

@MamaMoose: how old was she when she was diagnosed? When I brought up it being a possible allergy, my pedi didn't seemed concerned at all. I wonder if I should take him in again.
It is much better. For the first two months of his life, it would wake him up but not any more. I am starting to stress about it now.

Also, he doesn't have green/mucous poops and they have never been bloody.

@MrsHotDog: She was about 5 weeks when I started eliminating foods. But she also had mucus in her poop.
