Lucie's List lists the Cosco Scenara as a decent $50-ish seat, bare-bones but good for travel or as a spare.

ETA: I don't have it, so I can't speak to it personally, I've just been looking for a second car seat.

@Smurfette: I don't own this one but I see it recommended on car seats for littles.

We're getting an Evenflo Sureride 65 for our lesser-used car. It's more expensive (closer to $100), but the weight limit is 65lbs FF (as opposed to the Tribute I linked to above which is 40lbs). So it'll last much longer.

I prefer the Graco My Ride to the Cosco Scenera. The my ride is a lot easier to install rear facing, the Scenera needs a pool noodle or a towel.
Both of my parents can install the Graco. THey had a ton of issues with the Scenera, so in an emergency, I'd feel safer knowing that.

@lawbee11: I have the Sureride in my Target cart right now for use in D's car.

@lovehoneybee: How much is it at Target? It's on sale at BRU for $84.99.

@lawbee11: The color Nicole is $84.99 at Target but the rest of the colors are $96.99-$99.99. Unfortunately, D won't go for a pink seat Are all of the colors around that price at BRU?
ETA: Never mind, I'm on the site now. Thanks for the tip!
ETA2: Actually, with the free shipping and 5% off with my red card at $5 off $50 coupon it's still a couple of bucks cheaper at Target, plus the ebates % is a little bit higher

@looch: Ditto on the Scenera probs. It's fine FF, but RF is a beast in every car I've tried except my ILs (where it usually is). But the real issue is that they just don't know how to do it correctly, and that makes me so nervous. Which is why I told my parents to buy a Britax - somehow they installed it correctly without directions. It's a pretty good installation design.

@lawbee11: @lovehoneybee: How much did you pay for the Sureride? Target has it for $75 right now...
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
@Smurfette: Dang it. I ordered mine from Target last week...it actually came yesterday. With the Red Card I think it was $86. Ah well, I guess $10ish isn't that big a deal, just the principle of the thing

@lovehoneybee: I would call and see if you can get a price adjustment! Usually within 7 days they do it.

@Smurfette: We haven't bought it yet...totally going to tell DH we should buy it tonight. That's the lowest price I've seen!

@Smurfette: Oo glad you bumped the thread.. I need to buy a convertible for our flight/DH's car... SureRide looks like a good bet
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
@Smurfette: Damnit. I paid more for it then I thought, but they can't adjust it because the color I got is now out of stock, which is totally lame

@lawbee11: the same as me!
They don't have Rose in stores but I wanted to use the $20 off $100 coupon but I don't see an online code......
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
@Smurfette: Yeah, I don't think you can use the $20 off online. That would be awesome if you could!

I have the evenflo tribute sport and I really like it, it is light and pretty easy to install.

@Smurfette: @Bookish: I just bought it then saw the $5 off code. Ugh!! Oh well, still an awesome deal!

@Smurfette: we have the cosco scenera. It stays in my ILs car so installation isn't an issue. Given the price and she uses it maybe once a week it's totally fine. It's definitely not as nice as the higher end models but I know it's still highly rated. It gets the job done for less than $50!
