I would join the fb group "Car Seats for the Littles" & ask them there! (Lots of techs that can chime in). Be sure to include your lo height & weight and they'll have lots of suggestions!

One thing I do remember is that even though the Focus is smaller, Ford seats are really squishy so alot of seats you can still easily get in just by pushing them farther into the seat.

@Mrs. Pen: we have a fusion as well. When we recently put the infant seat in I was shocked how much room was sucked up!

@Mrs. Pen: I think the radian is usually pretty versatile with an angle adjuster.

@ladybee: Yea we had a civic when P was in her infant seat & it wasn't until recently I learned it was installed incorrectly bc Chicco requires the car seat doesn't touch (also called bracing) the front vehicle seat at all.

Following. I have a small sports car and we are about to have this problem as well.

You probably already know what I'm going to say... Foonf! The only space they take up is top to bottom, but left-right and fore-aft, the footprint is really small! And it's been easy for us to get a tight install. I messaged a Clek tech to see if she knew for sure a Foonf would fit; I'll let you know if/when she replies

You could also go with a Radian with the angle adjuster for a more upright install.

Those two are going to be the smallest seats that give you the most longevity.

Or the Combi Corocco. Small, but lower weight/height limits.

@sotofamilia: The mysize70 actually has a smaller footprint and works well in smaller cars because of it's adjustable headrest. The myride70 is the one that takes up more room. I wish Graco would come up with better names to distinguish them.

@2PeasinaPod: We were originally looking at a different seat, but went to BRU where they would let us try it in the car and it didn't come anywhere near fitting. I definitely always recommend trying one out in the car before you buy if it's possible.

Following this. I have a Honda Insight. Smaaaall back seat.

We use to have a Focus. Way older though, 2001. But we could fit a Graco Myride and a Diono Radian in the back rearfacing. The squishy seats are so helpful!

So I know it's a bit pricey, but the Clek Foonf fits in the half-bench back seat of my husband's extended cab truck. I love it so much and even though it looks huge and is made of steel, it somehow takes up the same space as our maxi cosi mico...

@Mrs. Pen: I've "heard" that they do. I could be wrong. Seems like some of them do... and some of them don't. We will call ahead before going to see. We don't have any BBB in our area.

@sotofamilia: We have a 2-door Yaris. Needless to say, it's a small car! This week we had to transition from infant seat to convertible. We got a Graco My Size 70. It fits easily in the backseat rearfacing and, in fact, the front passenger side has more room than with the infant seat! Good luck with your search and purchase.

@Mrs. Pen: I'm guessing a lot smaller! We had our Radian rearfacing in the middle beautifully! When our second son was born we moved the Radian behind the drivers seat with the angle adjuster (we could also brace the carseat if we needed because our car was older) and the Myride rearfacing behind the passenger seat. No room for anything else back there, but they fit fine.
