If you have an SUV, what type of convertible carseat do you have? We are probably getting a car in the next few weeks, and we figured we might as well transition LO to a convertible carseat at the same time, but I keep reading about certain conv. carseats not fitting well in certain cars. SO if you have an SUV, what type of carseat do you have, and does it fit well? Or is this mainly an issue for sedans? We are looking especially at Britax carseats.

I have a CRV and we have an Alpha Omega Elite. It fits fine. I'm able to secure it, although I did have to do the trick with the towel to get it fitted properly.

I have a Britax boulevard in the back seat of a Toyota crossover (Venza) and it's fantastic. It's also been in a captains chair in a Honda Oddessy and in the backseat of my parent's Toyota Highlander.
I also have a Cosco Scenera, but that's for airplane travel and is currently the seat in my parent's SUV.

We drive a Lexus RX-350 and have the Diono Radian RXT. I know you prefer Britax which I did too but a friend of mine has a similar car with the Britax Marathon strapped in the middle and because of the width of the seat, one of the remaining two seats in the back will not have access to the seatbelt buckle. It was important to me that both rear passenger seats have seatbelt access. I am really happy with the Diono! Even though the overall seat width is narrower, the actual seat area for DD is wider and I feel it's more comfortable as well. Just thought I'd chime in. =)

Are y'all able to have your front seats back pretty far with the convertible seat rear facing? I have a small SUV too, an Acura RDX (it's like a CRV). we're both tall so it's a concern...

We had a CR-V with a Britax Marathon rear facing and it fit fine. I did have to move the passenger seat up a bit. I'm 5'6" and it was ok. Not roomy, but ok.

Chevy traverse with a safety 1st con seat and we don't have any issues.

We have a Chev Equinox small SUV, and tried this carseat first:

Didn't fit and I didn't like the seat, so it got shipped back!
Then we bought:

It fits and we're very happy with it
I drive the Nox the most and am 5'9'' and didn't have to move my seat forward at all, and there is space behind my seat and the carseat no problem!

@hilsy85: DH is 5'10" and he doesn't really have a problem being squished in the drivers seat. The Diono does end up being deeper since it's taller to accommodate a child into booster years, but that also means I don't need to buy another car seat for DD.

We have a Nissan Xterra and the Britax Marathon does not fit in the center.

We have a Tahoe and a currently rear-facing Britax Marathon. It fits just fine.

@hilsy85: Sometimes the scoop in the passenger seats are deeper for comfort but that throws the angle of a car seat off. In order to bring the car seat angle back, you can use a towel or 1/2 a pool noodle as a wedge.

@hilsy85: we have an SUV and were also in the market for a convertible. I saw the britaxs in real life and the diono... There was no way in hell I. Am getting the britax (we do love britax though) because they were gigantic and bulky. I would never want it in my car...ever. The diono was better (although its tall). I think at the end of the day, we will get the combo coccoro.

We just ordered a Diono Radian 120 and will try it out this weekend. I liked the reviews, the fold up for travel (and FAA approved for the plane), and the fact that we shouldn't have to buy more seats down the road.

Thanks ladies! It seems like either a Britax, the diono, or the combi corccoro are the most popular choices for SUVs. I think we'll wait and see which SUV we end up getting, and then go check out those three in person.

I don't have an SUV, but Combi Cocorro is amazingly easy to take i and out of cars, and light enough to carry from street parking to apartment. I love it, we didn't even bother with an infant seat, just went with that from the beginning. My DH can install that thing in 15 seconds in a yellow cab on Fifth Ave:)
