We have a few older BG Elementals with aplix that are just getting on my nerves. I was considering having them converted, but I may trade them in through CottonBabies's trade-in program instead. If you've had your diapers converted, do you think it was worth the cost? Or would you trade in instead?

@T.H.O.U.: I definitely know I want snaps instead (most of our stash is snaps), but I wasn't sure about cost vs quality. Like aye retrofitting may make the snaps more flimsy?

I know from hanging out on different WAHM groups that it's pretty standard practice to reinforce snaps. The area where the snaps are added behind the Velcro is basically untouched PUL since the Velcro was hidding it. I can't think of her site right now but I know there was one WAHM that converted them for a great price. You could also consider buying your own hand snap pliers and some snaps and doing your own if you have a lot to convert to cut costs.
I have a snap press but I never converted any, although there are tons of tutorials and it seems super easy! We liked having a mix of hook and loop and snaps around (DH prefers the hook and loop).

The shop I was thinking of was Convert My Diapers. Looks like a BG AIO is $3.75-3.99. How much would you get towards new ones as a trade in? Or even selling them on here?
ETA: the snaps BG uses are KAM snaps and you can get them here: http://www.kamsnaps.com/. Looks like for ~$20-30 (depending on if you went with one color snaps for all and got PUL elsewhere to reinforce) you could convert all your diapers if you did it yourself.

@anbanan15: I just looked again, and it looks like they won't take them after all because they're Velcro. Boo :(. I'll look into that shop.

Oh!!! I did it and I'm so happy with results. I sent in bum genius freetimes (the Velcro on these gave after just 6. Months, and not just the little tabs but the long piece) and some 4.0s. So reasonable to convert. Shipping to/from was the biggest expensive. Quality work. I have to look up website, it was a dicey looking website but worked out great.

@Weagle: I haven't converted but SUCK at using the Kam snaps and pliers. I used them for long sleeve bibs and just couldn't get them perfectly snapping no matter what. That dissuaded me from trying to convert the two that I have that are snaps on my own

My husband fixed about five this way and it was a pain! Barely worth it. It looked hideous because he didnt even remove the aplix. We used it for a few months more. I recommend snaps to everyone now.
