Do you cook parsnips? I cant remember if I'm supposed to completely cut out the center or not. I bought some from our local farmers market and I want to cook them for LO

I roast them or put them in soup. I just peel and chop like a carrot.

yes, i remove the center. just cut around and it and remove the core. YUM i love parsnips!

I have never removed the center, just chopped and roasted or panfried!

I only remove the center if it is "woody". I test for the woodiness by pressing on it; if it feels like the rest of the parsnip I'm good to go, if not, I cut it out. Love roasted parsnips!

Okay thanks everyone. I read online tha you have to remove the center only if its the larger parsnips that have a woody center. I stil trimmed a bit of the core out and my baby loves it! I cooked it in a pan with a small amount of water til it was soft. I pureed some of it and gave her some of it whole and she really really enjoyed it
