Anyone have a security freeze on their credit? To prevent an identity thief from opening credit in your names?
Anyone been a victim of identity theft? Was fighting it a nightmare? I hear it can take a year of calls and letters to get it all cleared up!
We dont plan on opening any new credit lines in the near future so it seems worth it.

My wallet was stolen so I froze my credit just in case. It didn't affect anything until we were buying a car; but it took a simple call to lift the freeze! Thankfully my identify was never stolen through this ordeal.

As someone who has had their identity stolen it's a total nightmare. I still am battling stuff off of it all of the time.

I've been a victim, what i have is a block that won't allow anyone to open a credit card in my name without calling me to verify it is actually me.
So, I can't be standing in Old Navy and get a credit card, but it is so worth it to me.
My SSN was stolen, and honestly, it was before we could look everything up online, so it took hours of phone calls, police reports, etc etc. They also took out a bank loan, but it's since been resolved.
