What is this used for? I was told by my RE to insert it the night before a biopsy. Do I put it all the way in? Partway? What should I expect from this?
I need real life people telling me what's up, not webmd

I was given Cytotec (orally) to take after my D&C to soften my cervix and allow tissue/clots to be expelled more easily. It can be taken as an alternative to having a D&C as well.
What is your biopsy for?
I know the medicine is traditionally an ulcer medication somehow.

@babycanuck: I was given it to induce miscarriage after finding out there was no heartbeat at 10w. I inserted it vaginally-just shoved them up as far as they could go (sorry if that's TMI!).

She didn't tell me what it does, the instructions just say to insert it the night before the procedure

I took it orally during my induction to softwn my cervix so that I would hopefully dialate more.

It's to soften and dilate your cervix. It's not essential for the procedure, but it should make it more comfortable for you. It just needs to get into your vagina, as close to your cervix as you can get it.
