*hugs* I once read somewhere it's impossible to spoil a baby... now toddlers are a different story.

If that is "spoiling" then I take it as a compliment and hope every baby is "spoiled." every baby deserves that and I think you are being a good mom.

Agree that that's ridiculous! Don't feel bad about responding to your LO, mama.

@Mrs. Sunshine: agreed! LO is 3.5 months old and my mom has made several comments about spoiling her and how we never put her down. (Which is only true at her house -for some reason, DH never puts her down when we are at my parent's house. ) But still! At that age you can't spoil a baby!

No way, mama, you are not spoiling her! My grandma has made a few comments about me "giving in" to my 5.5 month old son -- I just ignore it! I think I'd be frustrated, though, if DH was saying stuff like that. There is a difference between not allowing your baby to learn how to self-soothe and "spoiling", and it sounds like you're giving her the opportunity to do that!

We used to say lo was spoiled in a joking way, hopefully some or all of the comments you've received have meant it at least sort of jokingly....

While I actually DO believe in putting babies down I don't believe in not responding to their cries!

That's bananas! Fortunately I haven't heard any of that.

I don't think moving on to a different activity is a bad thing--if I'm playing with LO or my hands are free and she's fussing, I'll redirect her quickly. The only exception is if I'm cooking or eating or something, then I'll let her fuss in her high chair for a few minutes because I'm busy and I want her to get used to learning she won't always get attention right away. She's 5mths also.
