What is your daycare policy on diarrhea? When are they sent home? When can they return?

They are sent home if they have 2-3 loose stools in a short amount of time. They cannot return until symptoms have been gone for 24 hours.

Ugh dealing with this right now! My daughter was sent home Monday after two instances of diarrhea in a row (honestly idk if they would send her home after just one or not). She can return after 24 hours without. Thankfully my mom watches her Tuesdays but she did have one loose stool earlier today so it looks like I'm out again tomorrow. She had a much more solid poop this afternoon but I'm going to abide by the rules.

Lo is 22 months and had two loose stools are hour apart. No other symptoms. She is teething (2 year molars) and can return once her stools are formed. I really think it's teething. We went through over a month of this early in summer but she was never sent home.

@MamaG: no other symptoms, happy as a clam. Though she was exposed to a cousin this weekend who had been throwing up. She's 18 months.
That's frustrating if it's just teething!

@petitenoisette: our older had strep this weekend and it feels like it's an over reaction. She's had another stool at home and it was mostly non digested food. Not watery.

3 loose stools means home until symptom free for 24 hours

2 instances = no daycare for 24 hours. No other symptoms need be present
