OK midway through cycle #3 right now, and I'm beginning to think:
a) I need to invest in a BBT instead of using my family standard digital for more precise readings.
b) I should be using ovulation tests mid cycle so I can stop googling things like, how long after CM should I ovulate? How long after CM should my teperature rise? Does your temperature always rise noticeably?
Also, Since I THINK I ovulated on the 15th based on the above mentioned CM last weekend, and my temperature rising on the 17th (read that is usually starts to rise about two days after ovulations...), I'm changing my first POAS this month to the 25th, since I think that is 10 days after I O'd.also, because I'd LOVE to tell my husband Christmas morning!

@marley: @ShootingStar: I've only had my cycle back for a few months since LO and they have been weird but consistent with each other. Ovulation has been so obvious, textbook CM followed by one day where it was painful to sit down followed by AF exactly 2 weeks later. That never happened this time and before my first LO I would have really long anovulatory cycles before they regulated a bit and I got pregnant. I never even bothered to test back then because my doctor told me I wouldn't get pregnant without intervention. I feel so silly not knowing what is going! Thanks for your help!

@Mrs. D: I use clearblue ovulation predictor and I temp and I STILL Google those things, lol.

BFN this morning! That's okay though. Still got a shot!
Can you change my test date to 12/24? I'm going to wait till 14dpo to test again.

@Mrs. D: I think both of those things are great ideas and might give you a little more certainty I linked to @marley the basal thermometer that I got on amazon for $7--it has been great. and the wondfo opk's are inexpensive and work perfectly well. fingers crossed for your christmas surprise

11dpo today
I've been testing every morning and still getting
Although this morning I think I may see the tiniest faintest line, but it could just be my eyes are playing tricks on me. It's not enough to make me think it could be positive at all.
Last night and still today my boobs are sore, which is unusual for me, but I'm also feeling some cramps and light aching in my back that feels very AF-ish. So I don't know.
I don't feel entirely optimistic about this cycle, which is fine because it's only our first. But I'm still holding out a tiny bit of hope

@marley: I took a pic earlier and tried to tweak it to get it to show up more but no luck. This is the original with no tweaking. Don't think I'm crazy. Haha. I swear I see it in real life but it's barely there and so faint I don't trust it.

@artsyfartsy: Have you tried uploading to this site? It will allow you to tweak the photo to get a better look at it:

@pwnstar: I didn't use that site but I did invert it on another one and it didn't help.
I see it on this thread when I tilt my laptop screen back. I don't think it's an evap, because I've seen it since about 5 mins after I took the test, but I took this picture just about 3 hours later. Who knows

I can see it if I try hard enough but I think I'll just forget about it until tomorrow morning.

@artsyfartsy: Ahh good luck, I really hope you get a lovely, distinct tomorrow!

@artsyfartsy: If you can see it irl, then it's there (whether we can--yet!--or not)! And yeah, I agree, within 5 minutes (or even 10) is not an evap. Test again when you're ready.

FF took away my O date. I had a solid smiley on CD17. Today is CD20 and still no temp rise. This cycle has been haaaard.

@marley: @Nutella: Thank you!
@pwnstar: Thanks! We'll see. I still feel like it's my imagination making me see things.

@marley: Fwiw, for this month, I would probably go with your OPK (and give your old thermometer some serious side eye). I'm so sorry this is happening. It's hard enough without additional complications.
@artsyfartsy: I call it *line eye.* I'm sure it's a legit diagnosis.

@pwnstar: but it's my NEW thermometer! temping is so stressful. But I did some extensive googling (I'm pretty sure my IT department knows I'm TTC by now) and learned that I can basically ovulate 48 hours after the first peak, and then temp rise can start as late as another 48 hours. So, maybe tomorrow morning? or maybe I didn't O this month.
pear / 1718 posts
@marley: I meant for all of the temping issues this month. Not that that makes it any better/easier. I think if you didn't O then you would have gotten just more flashing smileys. The instructions for my CBFM (slightly diff) state that after the initial LH is detected that O will occur 24-48 hours later. So yep, 48 hours is totally reasonable.
As an aside, did you test out the difference between the two thermometers--use them both on the same day right after one another? That way maybe you would know the difference between the two (to see if it makes a difference with your baseline temp?).

@artsyfartsy: I have super squinty eyes and think there could be a shadow

I'm kinda lurking because we are NTNP -- had two unplanned pregnancies since sept that were losses....and this randomly happened to be intimate right before I ovulated. 9dpo here

@pwnstar: Haha I have it for sure!
@winniebee: As long as someone else sees SOMETHING, I don't care what it is. Haha! I've been driving myself crazy with this stupid squinty line. I finally threw it in the trash. Lol. And good luck!!!!

@artsyfartsy: When I tilt my screen and look I can see it. I can spot a squinter from a mile away.

@artsyfartsy: I see it! And my backache and cramping felt like a for sure showing of AF but she never came!
