We can't seem to get very excited about any names for our little girl. I don't know if I just have cold feet about committing or if I'm really not that gung ho with the names we've talked about. DH mentioned he didn't want to tell our daughter we named her something because we couldn't think of anything else. Just wondering what others have experienced. Do you feel like you found the perfect name or did you settle? If it didn't feel 100% right at first, does it now?

We found the perfect name but it took until she was born to decide on it. We went into the hospital with three girl choices (we were

We waited until we found one we loved. We didn't end up naming her until she was born and didn't even start discussing the name we chose until I was like 34 weeks. We also went in with 2-3 names we liked and when she was born, one just felt right.
There is absolutely no rush to decide.

We definitely named him perfectly. We went to the hospital with 5 names, but the instant he was born, we looked at each other and said "He's D----." It just felt right.

We had a challenging time naming our first daughter, and really while I do love her name now, what we decided on was so different from what I had had my heart set on that it really did take awhile to get used to. Even after she was born, I had this feeling of, "Is this really her name?" But she is 3 now, and I tell her all the time that we picked her name because it was the most beautiful name we knew, and I really do feel that way.
I feel that way with this baby, that we're going to have to "settle" for a name that we don't LOVE (I think it's okay, too, not to be crazy in love with whichever name you choose), but then I remember how much LO1's name grew on me once she was here and how the name became more special because it's hers, and I'm sure that will happen again.

We were so, so excited about our girls' names. Like over the moon, couldn't wait to use them excited. We spent months and months agonizing and trying them on, looking at all permutations and ramifications... But then again, I'm naming obsessed. I would name ALL the babies if I could! (There would be no more Mykynzy-s in this world!)

I was sooo surprised how hard it was for us to name our daughter. I
baby names and have kept a list of favorites since before I even WANTED a baby. So I thought that when the time came I'd love naming our kid. Instead, I have the hardest time going from "I like this name" to "I like this name for MY baby." The decision just felt too big. Nothing seemed perfect. Nothing was good enough (or at least nothing stood out as so much better than all the others). We basically talked about it for months and started with my big list of favorites (like 28 names I think) that we got down to 20 then 12 then 8 then 5 and then 3. Every few weeks we'd just talk about it again and knock off the ones that we were pretty sure weren't doing it for us. When we got to 3 we spent a week calling her each of those names. So for a whole week we referred to her as Eva, then Fiona, then Penelope (Penny).
Once that experiment was over my husband was pretty sure she was Fiona. He said it just felt right to him, but he'd leave it up to me ultimately. I obsessed over it for a few more weeks (at that point between Penny and Fiona for me) and sort of just couldn't decide which I liked better... which I figured meant I really liked them both and since my husband had a clear preference we should do that.
Honestly even once I decided I never got that "omg its the one" moment. But the more people we told her name, the more we called her that, the more I heard my family call her that, now it just seems right. And now that she'll be here any day I don't have any doubt that I love her name and it's right for her.

And with no more Mykynzy's, it would totally be a public service. We were team green so we needed to pick out two of both. We easily & very quickly picked our two girls names that we both (shockingly) loved. Boys names we were still iffy on in the delivery room. And we were pretty meh about all of the final contenders. Thankfully we had two girls so we didn't have to agonize over a boys name. The two names we picked are very fitting for each girl & we both are thrilled with our picks. You still have some time to find a name you both love. It may not be a lighting bolt moment but could be more of something you both comfortably land on & ends up fitting her perfectly.

I loved my sons name from the start and still do. It was just perfect for him and I can't see myself ever not loving it. With our daughter it was much harder to choose. DH and I have such different tastes that the name she got was nice to me but I wasn't in love with it. It was hard to believe that was her name the first few weeks but she's become it and I can't imagine it anything else.

I would never settle. It is such a big deal! We talked about names lightly for years until we found one we both loved.

I LOVED our girl name when we thought we were having a boy. Of course at that time we had no idea what to name a boy. We spent several weeks grousing about how easy naming would be if we were only having a girl.
Once we found out at 30ish weeks that LO was really a girl we kind of panicked about her name. It's a little 'out there' and I think both DH and I were playing name chicken. Well, neither of us blinked and we kept the 'out there' name. TBH I never loved it as much as I did in the beginning again but I feel it totally suits LO.

We had this girl name picked out when we first started ttc-before e was ever born or conceived. The middle name, we waffled on, and made the final decision in the hospital
Every name felt abstract until she was here. Even then, it felt weird to give her a name and call her that. I had to get used to it, but always felt the name would suit her.

I liked our name for DD a lot, but I always felt like there was a better option that I overlooked out there. Now I couldn't imagine her with any other name and I really do love it.

We love our girl's name. It was nowhere on our original lists; rather, I stumbled on it about 20 weeks or so. We tried it out for a bit and were excited about it, but I was not 100% sold on its practicality until DH came up with a nickname that we both loved. It wasn't a lightning bolt moment, but it grew and grew on us. We both said that we reserved the right to change our minds when we met her, but we actually named her officially before I even held her. It just felt right!
Boy names were harder. We went in having picked one out, but it took me a long time to.decide that I liked a boy's name!

I think it's ok to just like it! Even if you LOVE a name now your taste may change. The runner up name for dd isn't even on our girls list anymore. But your LO's name will be theirs, so you'll love it anyway.

Our DD's name was second choice for both of us because we could not come to an agreement. But it is a lovely name and suits her, probably more so than both of our first choice picks.
DS's name I came up with years and years ago and I loved it (and still do).

I love my LO's name but it did take me a little while to know it was the one...our last name starts with a an "in" sound and I worried it would sound funny with a name than ended with the letter "n." It took me repeating his first name with our last name over and over before I fully fell in love...but I did occasionally have doubts leading up to going into labor (DH never had any though). I felt a ton of pressure to pick a good name (it caused me a lot of anxiety honestly!) because he has to live with it for the rest of his life!

We really liked the name we came up with but it took a good while until it felt as though the name had grown on our child. Now over a year later I couldn't imagine him being called anything else.

We were team green so we needed two names. The entire pregnancy we were positive we were having a boy, so I was a lot more worried about boy names. The girl name we came up with one day, instantly agreed on it and were totally sure, but that may have been because we were pretty sure we wouldn't use it anyway.
Boy names, we talked about for ages and never loved any. We had two top choices, with one inthe lead, but we were still discussing it on the way to the hospital.
Lucky for us, I guess, she is a girl and we LOVE her name. We are back to the drawing board with boy names.
It's a lot of pressure to come up with THE name. I think you should both really really like it but you might not have one you both love love love.

I always knew what I wanted to name our baby girl, but DH wasn't on board. So we searched and searched for a name we could both agree on and then finally he decided that he didn't like a name more than my dream name
If we have another girl we are in trouble. I love our #2 name but he's not sold on that either anymore.

LOVE . As soon as I said it out loud I got butterflies in my tummy. Gushy stupid love.DH and I came up with a girl name for #2 yesterday and I had the same gushy feeling.
I do think it's important to really love your babies name. You'll be using it for a long time.
I was surprised by how stressful I found naming to be. God for bid I pick a bad one and curse someone with a crummy name for life.

I love DD name, but I only just liked all the boy names we picked. I think eventually the like would have turned to love since that name would have been attached to my baby.

I think it's worth it to keep going until you love the name. DH
and I both have a hard time with boy names. Pretty much as soon as we were pregnant we had girl names down to top 2 that we equally loved. Boy names on other the hand we have a hard time agreeing on. I'm a planner, so we basically talked about names for the first 3 months of pregnancy until suddenly we randomly threw out our boy name, and it just was the one ever since. -
I'm worried I won't 'love' our boy name. We were both totally in love with our girl name and haven't been able to find anything we LOVE so far for him. I like a lot of things, but it's hard for me to picture him with it!
