Would you delay starting ttc for work? Initially, DH and I were pretty easy going about when we wanted to start, and I toyed with the idea of maybe November, to give me 3 full months in my new role at work. That was over the summer. Now, all the sudden, it's like we are totally ready. We are still saving for a house (darn you DC market), but we are ready to start a family. My DH talks about having a baby almost every day. I've been working out like crazy to lose the 20lbs I gained studying the bar, and it's like my focus has shifted. No longer am I working out for vanity reasons (of course health too), but I want to get my body in the best shape I can to carry another human being. We talk about our parenting styles, how we feel about this or that, and we are soo ready to parent. The problem....
I've just been made 1st chair on planning a huge conference in October/November 2014 (no exact date yet). This kind of cramps my ttc plans! The conference will not be in DC, and I would definitely need to fly. I won't be speaking at the conference at all, just working on any/all legal issues, and then I attend as an observer/ on site in case a crazy legal question were to come up. Do I delay ttc until next summer so I would still be able to travel come October/November? Do we go ahead and start trying as planned in December/January? Other? What would YOU do!?! I don't know if it would "look bad" that I didn't actually attend the conference if we were lucky enough to get pregnant soon. I obviously will have already done all the legal grunt work from now-next September. But, would I disappoint my employer? This is my first job out of law school, so I don't know how these things work. *For background, my one year work anniversary is in January (when we would be planning to start). When I told DH we may need to wait until next summer, he was heartbroken
Thanks for listening and any and all advice!
