I just came home from a dental cleaning, and my dentist referred me to an oral surgeon because I have a white area on my tongue. He wouldn't give me any hints as to WHY I need to get it checked out, just kept saying it was abnormal and he "didn't like it". He even took a photo to send along to the DR before I see him.

I didn't notice it myself (I guess I don't look at my tongue in the mirror!) and it doesn't bother me or anything, but I'm sort of wondering what the heck it could be / do I really need to see an oral surgeon about this? It seems like total overkill!
