Doesn't that sound sexy? My dad is adopted and DH's mom is adopted, so we both have a lot of unanswered questions when it comes to genealogy. My dad has never been interested in finding out any info about his birth parents or his genealogy--he feels like they "abandoned" him and he wants nothing to do with them. I've tried to explain to him that maybe they were just trying to give him a better life than they could provide, but he's stubborn. I would love to find my biological grandparents, but out of respect for him I haven't done so.

DH's mom, on the other hand, is very interested in her genealogy and finding relatives and all that. We visited his parents a few weeks ago and she told us about a DNA test she took and how interesting the results were (it gives you percentages of your ancestral make-up). We both showed interest in taking one, and she ended up buying tests for us (which are pretty expensive). So this morning we woke up and swabbed our cheeks. It'll take 6 weeks to get the results, but I am so excited! I can't believe I've gone almost 27 years without knowing anything about my dad's side of the family. I told him about the test, and he was fine with me taking it. So in 6 weeks I'll hopefully know more about my genealogy and where I come from

Have any of you ever done anything like this? If so, were you happy you did it?
