I was laying down, pushing gently on my belly, trying to feel LO move (I'm 26 weeks with an anterior placenta so we haven't felt much from the outside) and DH kept saying, "leave my son alone! Quit poking at him!"
It was pretty cute. DH would have heart failure if he knew I'd tried the flashlight thing! Does your DH ever tell you not to mess with your baby bump?

My DH was the opposite, always poking and prodding at the bump to make it do stuff! lol!

Ha ha, mine was always going on about not having the bump near the laptop, and didn't want me to have alcohol, not even in food. I had to remind him to take the amazing-smelling glass of wine he was guzzling away from my snout then : )

Nah, we both totally poke on mine. At 33 weeks, there will be a hard spot on one side and we know it's her butt or something. We think it's funny to piss her off in there

He never told me that.... But he was overprotective in other ways. We went on a dinner cruise when I was 9 months pregnant and he called my ob and the cruise line to make sure it was ok.He was scared I'd go into labor on the ship. It was a 3 hour ride. If I went into labor, the baby wasn't going to come out in 3 hours!

Yup, I'm only 17 weeks, but my husband doesn't like me having the laptop on my tummy, doesn't like me eating pineapple (I mentioned that in another thread), doesn't want me wearing tight pants that "squish the baby" (when I complain about my pants getting really tight)..... But I kind of love it because he also doesn't let me carry many groceries or carry my own luggage anymore. He's really sweet. Also, I I tell him the baby and I are thirsty, he brings me water .

Yes, he was the same way! I responded that if she could kick me on the inside, I could poke her back from the outside

Yes! It drove me crazy. Luckily he didn't we me shake my belly when he was suspiciously still in there!

@MrsTiz: apparantly if you shine a flashlight flush with your belly at the baby's face they can see the light and might move/flip away from the light and you get to feel them do a big movement! i've not tried it yet, but apparantly it works some of the time hehe.

As the father of an almost-4-month-old boy, I was constantly poking the baby bump ... with my wife's permission, of course!
And we tried the flashlight trick one day when she hadn't felt him move at all; when the light went on him, he immediately moved around greatly, so it definitely works.

Mine does the same thing. Tells me to quit poking her. Yet then it is ok when he does it so he can feel her move.

dh is always hugging on my belly, and doesn't yell at me for poking her.
However, he's protective of ME being pregnant, babying me when I have to go up and down stairs and stuff like that. Doesn't let me do a whole lot of stuff these days, lol.

Oh, in my husband's home country, *some* pregnant women use pineapple in large quanities to abort their unwanted babies. So, women who *want* their babies don't eat any pineapple. My doctor said pineapple was fine, but he still doesn't want me eating it. I've still had a few pieces here and there, but his mother kept telling him not to *let me* have it. Sigh.
Google research says the core of pineapple does contain a natural chemical that can cause uterine contractions, but it's in the CORE (which we don't eat in the US), and you would have to eat literally tons and tons of pinapple for anything to happen.
But google pineapple in late pregnancy, and people here in the US use it to try to start labor when they are overdue. So....the old wives tales persist? Or maybe these women are eating 3 dozen pineapples, including the core? who knows. =)

Yes! My tummy has just started getting hard and round so lately I've been patting my hands on it, like its a drum. Strange I know, I'm not sure why I do it. DH catches me sometimes and says "Stop abusing my child!" It always makes me laugh.
