We've always used Costco Kirkland brand that I hear is made by Huggies. We tried pampers once and I didn't like the strong baby powder smell at all, esp after itv was mixed with pee.

@winter_wonder: target newborns constantly blew out for us. We’ve had success with Luvs and both versions of pampers, but Huggies are narrower and didn’t work as well for my daughter either. Like pp said, pampers swaddlers do have a perfume, but it doesn’t bother us and we get the best performance with them so that’s usually what we buy even though they’re not cheap.

We use pamper swaddlers newborn and exclusively use Amazon’s Mama Bear for size 1+ I feel like the fit is similar. (None of my kids could use Huggies without blowing them out on a regular basis!)

I've never used Targer diapers, but we liked the Made Of brand on Amazon for newborn diapers. For size 1 we tried Andy Pandy, but the fit was weird, so we bought Honest diapers and have been using them since then (size 1 to her current size, 5/6).
