I was looking at getting a new one for lo and a couple for the new baby...but DH insists the hood is pointless and we don't need them. Did anyone skip these? What did you use instead? Won't regular bath towels do the job just fine?

I got some because they Are cute, haha. But really normal towels are fine. That's what my friend uses for her babes.

I used them because someone got them for us, but a regular towel would totally do the trick.

I think it's totally fine not to use them, but I actually like them. If I'm not ready to get him dressed right away after the bath, he is able to hold it on himself much better than non-hooded towels. So I think they do serve a (small) purpose, but they're certainly not necessary. Plus, the cute.

They are super cute, but rather pointless. We were gifted two, which we do use, but now that LO is bigger, we just use regular towels.

Not necessary but cute. For us they actually are helpful because they are smaller and thinner than our regular towels and our washing machine is really small, so I do like that they are easier to wash. Mostly I think they are adorable and was gifted a few.

We were gifted a few but I didnt care for them they were all really thin.. We use a smaller regular bath towel.

We were gifted several. LO was also gifted a toddler sized hooded towel for Christmas that I love. It's cute, stays on because of the hood, and is bigger. Target has some cute ones.

We found them pointless and small with DS so we just packed then away and used regular bath towels for DD.

I actually avoid using ours! I like the regular ones better

But they're soo cute! FWIW I absolutely loved hooded towels as a child and used them until my mom struggled to find any that were big enough at that point

It's freezing here in the winters so we use the hooded towels. The Lands End ones are awesome - they are huge. In the summers I don't care though !

I liked that I was able to cuddle her whole body easier and still use them even though she pulls them off her head. But my friend just used regular towels.

They seem to pointless to me so we use regular towels.

LoL I actually find them really useful for my guy. The hood keeps drying his hair while we're doing lotion and pj's and stuff. He has a ton of hair.

I totally agree with @hotchildinthecity: -- if your LO has lots of hair, they are pretty useful (in addition to being cute)!

I like it for drying hair, if we keep it on whole he brushes teeth it's usually pretty dry. I like the ikea ones best because they are large and a decent thickness.

these two hooded towels are kind of ingenious
this one's claim to fame is that it protects the parents from getting wet:

this one let's parents scoop up babies in their hands for a better hold

I like them but LO hates the hood so we just use regular bath towels!

We purposefully didn't buy any, and just use regular towels. We do have a little "shark" robe (which is even more useless than a hooded towel) but it is pretty dang cute!

Never used the hood. Infant towels are a waste in my opinion. Next time I'm not going to buy them.

A nightly staple during bathtime routine for us; DD has a ton of hair.

We used one for first couple of baths but then switched to a regular towel because they were too thin and didn't seem to dry LO. However, my mom made hooded towels out of a regular towel and a hand towel that's awesome because you get a hood but still a full size towel/thickness/absorbency. Can you tell this is an obsession of mine?

I used it once, hood wouldn't stsy on. Towels were also on the small side I found and so we have been sticking to regular bath towels since almost the beginning. Baby/hooded towels are just another marketing scheme in my opinion and completely unnecessary.

R freaking loves that hood. We have a thick one from PBK kids that has held up super well for 2 years. I wish I had a hooded beach towel for her because she loves her "hat"
