@MapleMoose: @Greentea: I was about to post about how my family all seem to have forgotten what it was like to have a baby. LO was having a heck of a time trying to nap and everyone thought it was hilarious and was giving me useless pointers. I wanted to strangle them. We also got crap for leaving at 7! Um, sorry, do you want to come be up with her right now at 330? Grrrrr
@rawrasaur: yayyy! You give me hope for next year glad she did so well!

I love my family dearly, but GEEEZ. I can't convince anyone I know my own baby and I know when he's hungry/tired/whatever. They decide he'll stop fussing if they talk in loud baby talk, shake toys in his face, and bounce him all around. Meanwhile, he's screaming.

LO was 3 months old last year and we hosted....it was so stressful and he did not like all the noise. He was super fussy and only wanted me. This year, he's 15 months and it could not have been easier.

@Bookish: So frustrating! We left early too. And it took hours of consoling at home to get her to sleep for a few hours. We should have called them all to wake them up overnight to remind them what it's like with a baby lol

@lawbee11: My normally "love to nap" baby refused all of her naps! I ate a few bites and got her to nap finally during the start of dinner. I was the only one able to get her to nap eventually. By the time I was able to enjoy my food, everyone was almost done with dessert and I didn't want to delay the cleanup so I just ate dessert too. I have never left a Thanksgiving party so hungry. But sleep trumped eating so I was able to get a good night's sleep, thankfully. It was definitely not the dreamy first Thanksgiving I had planned. We didn't even get a family picture.

This should be in baby books: warning, your first holiday will not be how you imagined it. Expect cranky babies, cold food, and relatives not Understanding.
I guess I had it easy in the dh's grandmother is very understanding and it was overall quiet. The only questioning I got at all was when I tried to put her down for her first nap an hour after waking up, but it was more of a disappointed, oh darn we were having fun, but mommy knows best, kind of thing. She even made a point to tell us it's obvious we are doing a good job and are confident- I laughed at the confidence thing but it was nice.
Unfortunately C decided 6:30 was a good time to wake up, and without super blackout shades we just weren't able to commvince her otherwise. She wanted all the Black Friday deals I guess.

He was too ramped up to take a nap all day, but that typically happens when we drive to visit my family. So while we were on edge about it and tried to get him to go down a few times, he actually did really well for skipping his nap. He slept through the drive home, was up for another hour, then slept fine the rest of the night.

It only got stressful when he missed his second nap. He went to bed around 6pm.

It was a little rough in the beginning because I had to wake her up from her nap just to go, but she was fine later on. Now last year when she was 1? Oh, it was ROUGH!

@Foodnerd81: haha! My lo was up early today too. So stressful are these holidays. When lo was two months my mum visiting was like "where is her seat?" at a restaurant- like she had a booster already? I am like what the heck! She had a baby when I was in hs and we went no.where.ever.@Bookish: yeah what the heck is with the lack of remebering/ understanding? Oh well. Guess I have to expect it from my relatives!

Feeling so bad this Thanksgiving weekend! LO has a bad diaper rash today, the worst she's ever had, and we're 8 hours away from home. We're cutting our trip short and leaving early in the morning. It's going to be the longest ride home ever!
