Luckily nobody hogs my LO. My mom gets to see her the most often so when my in laws are also around she lets them have her. And if I want her I'm always allowed.... she is MY baby after all!

If I were in your position, first of all I'd make DH deal with it. It's his family so it's his job. But I would be firm that when I want LO, I get her. Especially if she's hungry or upset. It sucks to have family drama, but LO always comes first.

Oh @grizz: my heart goes out to you. What is WITH that woman??? Every hair on the back of my neck is prickled up just thinking about it!!

@grizz: I swear I feel like your MIL has put so much stress on your pregnancy and in a way blighted aspects of it.

All the things you have said on here and WB makes me feel very, very sorry for you. You should not have to worry about any of this stuff before your precious little one arrives.

Has your DH not been able to have a conversation with her to keep her behaviour in check?! That a very odd passive aggressive thing to write in a card. Very odd.

Personally I am not worried about any baby hoggers. If there are any issues I know I will tell them where to go and that my DH will look after me if I can't.

I so hope things go smoothly for you when baby arrives and you do not have anyone causing you any problems!

Erm, ok. Really he shouldn't be just agreeing that its going to happen, he should be telling you, in no uncertain terms, that he will not allow ANYTHING to happen to your baby that you are uncomfortable with. Why is he not telling you "Don't worry, I will look after this"?! It is his mother!!

Oh gosh, this woman! What a cuckoo! I would maybe just plan on not handing LO over to her without getting her agreement that when s/he needs to be fed (or is inconsolable by MIL) that she will hand over the baby! If she doesn't agree, she doesn't get to have "Grandma time"!

Oh god. I would be so annoyed. I mean, I get that grandma time is important, but you know what's more important? Me feeding my baby. Me consoling my baby when your "shushes" don't work. UGH. I will end up being a major biznatch to people who hog my baby.

I'd just wear the baby in carrier and be like "sorry, he's asleep, maybe next time". Cuz I'm evil like that. Either that or only pass him off if I wanted to do something like shower. DH and I are already joking about fighting for who gets to hold the baby. MIL isn't even anywhere in that equation, haha.

This will probably be my mom! Before we were even TTC, she already said she'll take our baby back to OK to baby sit for 6 months so that I can recover and go back to work. They live 3 hours away! No way, Jose! Now that we're pregnant and have been discussing day care options, she brought it up again. Ai yai yai!!!!

LOL.. people love to hog babies... My MIL uses my LO as a photo opportunity and then she hands him back when something needs to be done (ex: feed, change diaper, etc)

I don't mind baby hogs since I am not crazy about holding the baby all the time...!! However I'm lucky because I know it would bother me for anyone else to "lay claim" over my baby like that... and no one around us is a particular baby hog. They want to hold the baby, but once it starts crying or needs something they quickly hand it over. Haha.

ETA: come to think of it, probably everyone around me is scared to hog my babies because they're scared of me. I'm kind of overbearing myself

@.twist.: @grizz: It started when a stranger tried to put their finger in my LO's mouth . . . my response was, literally, "Who the f*ck are you? Are you f*cking insane? Back the f*ck off!" Needless to say, I got my point across, and now I am uber vigilant.
