We switched at about 14.5mo but only bc we were going to Korea to a month and I didn't want DD to outgrow her bucket seat while we were there. She probably still had a few more months to go in our Graco SnugRide 35. She moved into a Combi Coccoro.

I don't really understand when people say they switched bc the infant seat got too heavy to carry. You can just leave it in the car like a convertible.

DD is almost 17 months and we JUST switched her ... like this week.

We switched her at 7 or 8 months only because I was sick of lugging bother her and that seat around. She's 15 months and 19lbs.

i waited until the last minute (and probably past the last minute) to switch A.... it was the week before his first birthday! however he is pretty heavy (24lbs) and tall, and we have a small seat (22lb limit) so we were late in switching

my car's a 2 door civic, so you can only imagine how huge a rear facing convertible is.... and with my 27week belly... i don't know how i get him in there everyday! LOL

i say that if J still fits and it's safe and comfy for him, there's no reason to switch yet! that way when you do buy a convertible, it will be able to last longer than if you bought it early (to use for other kids, etc)!

eta: he hadn't been weighed in a loooonngg time so i really thought he was still under 22lbs! ack... seeing what i typed above makes me feel like an unsafe carseat parent! oh my... o_0!

We could have waited as we have snugride 35 buckets and the kids are still within the specs. But it was clear that they were getting uncomfortable around 9-10 mos, and are now so much happier with the extra room in their radians.
