Due to discomfort, my midwife suggested I see a chiropractor to get adjusted. She said it will loosen me up and make me feel better but I wonder if that could mean potentially going into labour earlier than 40 weeks.

Shit, I wish! I was going to get acupuncture, though....but they induced me that day instead.

@Rubies: I can't say from my experience but my best friend saw a chiropractor regularly (he helped turn her breech baby) during her pregnancy and she delivered at 42 weeks, 1 day, induced.
My coworker also saw a chiropractor for pain during pregnancy and gave birth 40 weeks, 3 days, went into labor on her own.

I saw a chiropractor throughout my pregnancy for back pain and I didn't go into labor on my own even at 41 weeks.

I have seen my chiropractor since before I conceived and it helps soooo much with my back pain and general discomfort. My chiropractor says it will help with a smoother labor because everything will be aligned to help baby's path out, but it won't induce labor. I'm only 21 weeks, but I highly recommend it!

No, I don't think so. I think, if baby is ready to come and you're outta whack, that an adjustment to get you all aligned can get things going, but not before it's time.

I'm 36 weeks and have been seeing the chiropractor twice weekly since 28 weeks. Actually, I just graduated to once a week this week! I completely credit the adjustments for keeping me comfortable and happy these past few weeks. She also has me doing strengthening exercises to help my back/hips hold the adjustments.
