Did your DH stay overnight with you at the hospital for baby #2+?
Mine really wants to but logistically it would be easier for him to sleep at home so he can do daycare pick up/drop off for our 2 year old. Our family is 1.5 hours away and I'm not sure they'll be able to take 2-3 days off if it happens midweek.

Yes he did. However we live with my family so they are used to N's routine. If family hasn't been around then he probably would have stayed home with N after the birth.

@HappyBaker: Do you have friends that could stay with your lo or maybe your lo could stay over with them?
To answer your question, yes he did. I'm very thankful for that too because I had some minor complications and it was nice to have his help since I couldn't really do anything. I know the nurses would've taken her if he wasn't there though.

No no no. We even have plenty of family and friends around to help with #1, but I didn't want him there. I was fine on my own, and didn't have to worry about a cranky husband who didn't sleep well/who was bored with bad hospital TV

My plan is to have DH stay with me night one, and have him stay home night #2 (I might have my mom come stay with me the second night). Assuming I stay for two nights like I did with my last delivery, that is.
But DS is very used to my parents and occasionally spends the night with them, so it's not much of a disruption for him to stay with them.

He's planning on staying with me, my mom and MIL already offered to split the grandma duties for LO 1, and we are scheduled to go in on a Friday so it will be the weekend anyway. I'm selfish and want him to be close.

One of the two nights. It was actually nicer when he slept at home. I had a terrible cold so I couldn't sleep and it kept him up, so when he slept at home at least one of us got sleep. We also only lived 5 min from the hospital.

We haven't talked about it yet but I assume he will stay with me/LO2. LO1 has never been a sleeper and didn't sleep the first night of his life and so it was nice having both of us at the hospital to take shifts. LO1 will go stay with my DH's parents about 15 mins from the hospital, we went home 24 hours and a minute after birth last time so I hope we'll do the same this time and have all 4 of us at home.

Nope, I wanted L to have some part of his normal routine, so at nights DH went home with him. My mom stayed with me because I'd had a c-section and couldn't get up, but I discovered she can sleep through anything - I might as well have been by myself.

I didn't see the benefit to him having to sleep in a crappy pull out chair thing at the hospital. He didn't even sleep there after having DS1, just seemed silly.

Next time I want to have my mom stay with me and DH stay home with LO. And he will be "assigned" to LO for the following weeks and my mom will be in charge of me & the new baby. DH was not a fabulous caretaker after my C section!

Yep, we even stayed 2 nights since she was born at 2 am. But we have family near by and my son stayed at my parent's house.

Yup, I told him to go home but he wanted to stay with me. My ILs are near and my mom was already here.

Yes, but I was only there 1 night. And, he left very early in the morning to get DD ready for daycare at grandma's house and to drop her off. I wanted things to stay as normal as possible for her.
The hospital my original OB was affiliated with was ~1 hr away from so I purposely changed dr's/offices halfway thru preg so that I'd deliver closer to home.

With ds we had a c-section and he stayed all nights because it was very difficult for me to even get out of bed. For the twins he most definitely will be staying because a) I'll have a c-section again and b) there will be two babies crying all night. Luckily we live up the street from the hospital so he'll be able to come and go as he needs easily throughout the day/night.

With my twins my husband stayed. My oldest stayed with my parents which was so hard on me, he was only 8 months old and I had huge amounts of guilt over being away from him. With my daughter my husband spent the evening with the three boys to help maintain a bit of normalcy. They were worried and wanted to know where I was so it was helpful to have him home with me. Things were a little tricky because of my c section. But I managed. I just kept her bassinet right next To the bed (I had to stay in bed for 24 hours because I was dizzy).

I haven't had numero dos yet, but DH will be going home. We have no family or friends up here with whom we are close enough to impose a 20 month old crank-a-potamus on. So he'll drop E off at daycare, we'll have a baby (RCS, obv) and then DH will pick E up in the evening and take him home. Wash/rinse/repeat for the next day (except the having a baby part), and we'll hopefully all go home Saturday. If I can't go home then, I'll just have to be by myself in the hospital. No way around it.
And if I somehow go into labor earlier, then we're basically screwed!
(And not flying my parents up here, b/c it would make me crazy.)

He didn't stay for LO1. There really isn't anywhere to sleep for the guys and we love so close he just went home overnight. He'll stay home with DD when we have lo2.

@swurlygurl: I am with you. I don't necessarily want to stay there alone, but I think I'd prefer it to my husband being there and being cranky. Last time all I heard was about how uncomfortable his bed was and how the tv options sucked. If my mom can stay with me and DH stay with DD, that would be ideal. Otherwise I think I want to stay alone. I don't know what DH will want to do... He will probably want to stay with the new baby. And whine

I was prepared for him not to stay. I had a repeat c-section and due to the pain medicine, he either had to be with me or baby couldn't be with me. I wasn't allowed to be on my own for the first 24 hours with baby. So he stayed the first night, and the second night I was on my own.

DH will be staying with us. We have a friend on standby to take LO for the time that we are in the hospital. I think it will be nice to be able to be there together and to both bond with the baby. I am sure our friend will bring LO by every day to visit, and he will be fine without us for a couple days. Plus, there is a good chance I will have another c-section, so I will need all the help I can get.

The first night he did & my mom had dd. The second night he took DD home and resumed her normal routine.

I imagine this time I'll have him stay with me, and my daughter will stay at home with my mother. I couldn't imagine not having him there.

DH has already told me he wants to be there for #2 and my parents are really REALLY looking forward to having LO1 stay with them. They watch LO1 once a week and she loves it so I'm not too worried. But I sure am going to miss her!!

We haven't officially discussed it, but I think he will stay for at least a night or two with LO2. If I have another c-section he'd definitely stay because I wouldn't be able to get out of bed to get the baby. My family lives 10 minutes away so they can have DD stay at their house and drop her off to daycare, or just keep her home with them. Also, my in-laws would probably be more than willing to stay at our house with her (they live about an hour away).

Nope, it wasn't a necessity for me at all. My IL's stayed with us to keep #1 entertained and my husband floated between the hospital and home (he ate meals with me and brought food, gave me a chance to shower, but still being present for #1), but slept at home. I really enjoyed the quiet time getting to know my new little guy and just snuggle the heck out of him.

We haven't really discussed it yet either but I envision him staying with me. DS will be staying with my parents and I know my mom is excited for that. It was one of the first things she said when I told her I was pregnant.
