I totally planned on doing a immediate family and maybe a few close friends 2nd birthday celebration for LO.
But now that she's 18 month she is really starting to recognize her daycare friends. She says her friends names at home often! Now I'm second guessing my decision.

We had a family party for her first so I am giving her a 2nd bday at a playgym!

Nope! We just had a few of our friends over for a bbq lunch. DD, at two, didn't know what a birthday was so we didn't do anything big.

It won't be big because we live far away from our family. But we'll invite some friends and probably have a BBQ. Depending on his friend situation, we'll probably invite some of his buddies. Nothing fancy, b/c that's not our style anyways!

We didn't. We figured we'd wait until she was old enough to really understand birthdays and parties before doing so.

I think we might this year. DD's bday is end of April and the new baby is due the 1st week of April. I still want DD to feel "special" and have her own time so we will invite all her friends and reuse decorations from her 1st birthday.
I will cater some lunch/snack food instead of home cook everything like I did for her first and just have it at a park instead of at home. I also think it will be a good opportunity for everyone to meet the new baby!

We just had brunch with the family for DD's 2nd bday. No party at all, but we did acknowledge her birthday and celebrated her!

Nope, we had a 1st birthday party, but it'll be low key (family only) from here on out... well, until she's in school.

#2s due date a only a week or so before DDs 2nd birthday so doubtful I will have any energy to plan anything. Probably just immediate family or we will wait another month and do a 2nd birthday / 1 month party celebration.

We're going to invite my parents to go to the zoo with us for her second!

I don't think it'll be big. We'll plan on something fun or maybe a trip to the aquarium!

We tried to keep it small and made it more about about LO's little friends for her 2nd birthday. We had 20 kids and 30 adults...we did at an indoor playgym...it was so nice not having the party at our house. The kids had so much fun playing with each other and running around and the adults were able to sit/eat/chat

We went far bigger than for the first birthday. I figured, that one is mostly for us and the family. By her second birthday, she's old enough to have a say in who comes and what we do. She's old enough to participate way more.

@locavore_mama: We will probably have the same amount of people as last year, but spend less $$$ on decorations/food/etc. I went a tad bit overboard.

@locavore_mama: we had a lot more people at her first birthday bc we invited extended family, family friends and our friends. I made so much food it was crazy. It was so much easier this time bc we just kept it to grandparents, aunt/uncle, and her friends

LOs birthday is coming up, it looks like we will be doing something smallish with family over thanksgiving out of town, bring a treat into daycare for her and her buddies and then do a small party with my friends the next weekend. That kind of turns into a lot but it should be spread out and not too overwhelming...we'll see!
