I'm having another girl so she has a lifetime of hand me downs to look forward to.
I don't really NEED to get her anything but I feel like I should buy her some new stuff...maybe I'll buy her a special going home outfit and swaddle blanket!

We bought a few new things since she was a girl, but we also needed some things like more crib sheets (we already had a second crib), obviously diapers, etc. If i were you I'd totally go for a new going home outfit and some new swaddles!

We have a boy and girl so we bought a lot of new clothes after the initial infant stage.. Also he has gotten some new toys. I really want a new stroller since my old one is woefully out of date but am sucking it up!

We just bought replacement items hat DD had worn out (crib sheets, changing pad covers, swaddle balnkets, bath towels/washcloths, bottle nipples, etc...) and extra toiletry items.
ETA: DS also got a special new coming home outfit! I think your second should definitely get new outfit.

Yeah, our second one has a lot of hand me downs, but I did give away a lot so she gets some new things too. She got a personalized Pottery Barn bath towel and new swaddle blankets when she was born. Gear that was new: bathtub, boppy, playmat, bassinet, and breast pump.
Her clothes are half her sister's and half new that I bought or were gifted. It's nice to re-use but for her to have her own things too. They were born in opposite seasons as well, so some sizes wouldn't work for her during certain times of the year.
Holiday and birthday dresses I always buy new

Clothes and A&A blankets. I was going to re-use my son's old sleepers but I couldn't resist buying new girlie ones!

I just bought a new infant tub. We used the last one for so long that I thought it was nasty so I just remembered that I threw it away and need a new one!

I will for sure!! This is my running list:
- Rock and play sleeper
- swing that plugs-in to the wall
- another pack of A&A swaddle blankets
- a girasol wrap
- Bjorn bbsitter
- bathtub (love the hop pop!)
- some nicer/better nursing bras!
- if #2 is a girl I'll need a whole new wardrobe too! (except I may reuse pjs!)

I think a new coming home outfit is a must! Maybe some new outfits for newborn pics if you're going to do that (even if you just take them yourself?) I know that a lot of gripes about younger siblings is they never have as many photographs as the 1st child did.
I love @NYCaliMama:s idea for a personalized bath towel. Actually any little thing personalized here and there will be a special thing when most everything else is handed down.
