Both infant seats were gifted! I was surprised and thought we'd end up buying at least one. We didn't register for convertible seats, though, so still have two of those to buy!

@regberadaisy: so B has had 6 of those. His infant car seat, 2 convertibles (one for DH's car), a booster that only worked when he didn't sit in the middle seat (before N arrived), a booster for grandparents car and a booster that actually fit in our middle seat.
Then, a new infant seat for E so grandparents could have B's infant seat for their car plus it was boyish. Then a convertible seat for E. Which we traded her old seat in for to get a 25% discount on her convertible seat...before we knew we wanted a third baby! Soo, I had to buy a new infant seat for N, which she has nearly outgrown and the new convertible seat is in my Amazon cart right now since E won't be in a booster for 2-3 more years! Oh and we gave B's old convertible seat to Rainbow Sprinkles last year after B outgrew it!
...dang, kids are expensive!

Other- the infant seat was handed down from my nephew. But we bought our convertible.
If we hadn't had the hand me down I expect someone would have gifted us the infant seat- it's a popular shower gift for family/ grandparent to get.

Infant carseat and extra base were gifted at our shower. We bought three convertible carseats (one for our car, one for each of the grandmas who watch DS 2 days a week).

We bought all of our own car seats.
We are going to have to buy 2 more Clek Foonfs once LO2 outgrows the infant seat and I wish someone would gift us those lol:)

We bought them. I bought the infant seats used because we don't have a car and used each one maybe 3 times. I bought the convertible seat and DS's newest seat new.

TBD. We've purchased everything so far (nursery furniture inc. glider, stroller), and had registered for them all initially, but started buying things when we decided we needed to IOT be sure that the nursery was complete by the time baby comes. For other stuff, it was a matter if buying it on sale.
Both my mom and MIL asked this weekend what we needed, even though they've had access to the registry for months now, and I mentioned the car seat. One of them will probably buy it. If they don't in the next 4 weeks, we'll just buy it ourselves. I don't like to leave things to the last minute.

Gifted our infant seat by a group of friends and my brother generously got us a convertible car seat (even though we hadn't registered for one!). We didn't even think about how quickly he would need a convertible, so its awesome to not have to buy one now.

My grandma bought the infant seat (technically, the stroller and the seat came in the Britax sale), and we bought all the convertible seats.

Our infant seat was on our registry, but we bought it ourselves. Someone did buy an extra car seat base for us though (we have 2 cars).

I was gifted a Britax Marathon and we bought another Britax infant seat so we'd have the carrier while she's tiny. My friend who bought the Marathon wasn't happy with me for buying the other one. But, oh well!!

We bought our infant seat and convertible seat and still haven't gotten around to buying a seat for DH's car...one day!
