Nope. My DH wishes it were otherwise and I told him that I haven't completely closed the door on that decision so we'll see.

Yes...I think the only things left in my maiden name are my 403b (even though it should've been changed) and my teachers retirement system. Name changing was a major PITA!

Yes - at first I was bittersweet about it. I love my maiden name and decided that if I could have Firstname Maidenname Lastname on my driver's license I would be happy. I went to change my name and they told me it was one letter too long! Sad So I just changed it outright.
If LO is a boy he will have my maiden name though which makes me happy.

Yup, I actually changed my first name too so it was an extra PITA.

@regberadaisy: I did the first name change as well. So annoying!

Yup. We never really discussed whether I was going to or not going to, but I'm sure DH was pretty comfortable with my choice.
I'll echo the PITAness of changing my name. I gave up my middle name (which I really liked) for my maiden name, because it seemed to make the most sense, for all my licensing changes.

I use his name but legally I have my own. Too lazy to change it. Also changing it involves visas and residency documents and like I said
I'm
L
A
Z
Y

I did when we got back from our honeymoon, it was easy for me! I didn't have too much to change compared to some of you!

I changed mine a month after we got married since we were buying our condo. All of our official condo and city stuff is in my maiden name. I think I initiated the name change process right after we moved in.

Yup! SSN and driver's license was easy. Changing it on all the cars, mortgage, and credit cards was a PIA. I made so many copies of our marriage license it was ridiculous!

Nope.
@mrsjyw: Sometimes I wish I would have, just to mess with people who see a ridiculously long Thai name, and then a white girl shows up

yeppp! super common last name to a superrrrr long dutch name!
wasn't too bad to change.. still need to do my passport and SIN card then them all changed.
grapefruit / 4823 posts
Yes. I didn't have real feelings about it either way and DH said it was up to me, but he would like us to have the same last name
pomelo / 5820 posts
Yes, I changed it! It was a pain. I think the only things left in my maiden name are my student loans.

@regberadaisy: @chopsuey119: I did the first name change too, which in DC can take 6 months+. I just called a lawyer friend from back home to whip up a court order for me
grapefruit / 4731 posts
Yes. But I did it about 2 years after we were married...
Mainly laziness that it took so long. I wanted to change my name just never found the time.
I wanted to change my name before LO was born which is why I eventually did it.

@oliviaoblivia: Hahahaha! That is my response EXACTLY. I use his name socially but legally, it is far too much of a hassle with immigration and doing name changes internationally for me to bother. Poor DH, he wants us to have the same last name so badly.....I've told him he can always change his instead! Lol
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
Yes. I'm very glad I did, I love sharing a name with DH!
honeydew / 7917 posts
I didn't change it right away because it is a long drawn out process for me. When I was pregnant, I decided I had to take action if I ever wanted to get it done. I didn't know my legal name until I was 16 and went to the DMV to show them my ssn card. So not only did I have to change my last name, I had to legally change my entire name and prove it to a judge.

Yeah, but I don't think it was that difficult. I was 20 though and just had a few accounts to change which was easy once I changed my name at the social security office.
pomelo / 5257 posts
Nope! I have it hyphenated on Facebook and I don't mind when people refer to me with his last name, but officially I still have my maiden name. DH was happy for me to do whatever I wanted, and I honestly wouldn't have been very pleased if he'd tried to dictate what I did with my name.
eggplant / 11716 posts
I did......just recently, not right away. And I totally mourned my old name. But I still have to do my credit cards, passport, bank info, and insurance. And the kids I teach call me by my married name, but all the adults call me by my maiden name, so it's all very confusing.
kiwi / 603 posts
Such a PITA that I still have a couple things in my maiden name (passport and one CC)
pomegranate / 3244 posts
Nope. DH things it's weird. He's Latino so everyone already has both parents' last names. I am not Latina, but my parents named me the same way. So my name is already a mouthful, no need to further complicate things, lol.
