dh wants to take me away for a long wknd to vegas with some close couple friends to celebrate my 30th!
it sounds like fun, but not sure if i'll be ready to be away that long from ds! (he'll be 10 months)... i'm leaning towards going... and hope that i'll have enough of a milk stash for ds.

My husband and I spent a week in Hawaii for our joint 30th bdays! We're 16 days apart. No LOs at that time, though.

That sounds like fun! Unfortunately I had to work on my 30th bday 
It was in the Hamptons, but still it was not fun at all!! 
We were able to celebrate the next day though.

We went out to eat with our LOs and our friends with LOs. It was fun but certainly not a huge extravaganza.

The weekend before my 30th we flew home to CA and had a nice dinner with my family and extended family.
On the day of, we picked up my new car and had sushi for dinner. Just me and DH since we didn't have babies back then.

We won't do anything "Big" (to most) but I did already tell DH that I DO expect a large party! I NEVER celebrate my birthday so I gave him 2 years & 50 days notice to plan it! lol

Nope! Didn't do anything crazy only because my birthday falls on a busy time. But in general, nothing big was planned and I didn't mind at all.

I just asked DH what he wants to do for his 30th (two years) and he said go on a cruise! Better start saving

My DH had planned on surprising me with a Vegas trip! But then I got knocked up. LO came a week before my 30th. So it was low key and at home. dH did the best he could to make it special since I was still in confinement and my mom even gave me a one day food pass!

@Mrs. Pen: we all went on a friendscation for my gf's 30th a few years back (a group of 10+ of us) it was SOMUCHFUN. we've cruised before just us and we LOVED the diff experience w friends. she loved her gift from her bf

For my DH's 30th we went to San Antonio and stayed on the river for a weekend. Then he had a surprise party when we got home.

@mrsjyw: not really bc we were ttc and I didn't want to have to explain not drinking to anyone...of course I didn't get pregnant for another 8 months. But we drove down to Baltimore and had dinner at a friend"s restaurant.

We put aside a few hundred bucks and took our closest friends out to dinner to our favorite restaurant! It was a blast!!

We went to New Orleans for my 30th! We were planning to go sans-protection and start TTC right after my 30th, but drunken shenanigans and charting to avoid the month before resulted in me being about 4 weeks pregnant on my 30th. So instead of downing sazaracks, I was barfing up expensive gnocchi from restaurant August! It was still an amazing trip though, so glad we did it

we had hoped to do a big trip for DH's, but weren't able to. we got dressed up & went out for fancy dinners for each of our birthdays. and went to the beach a week or so after mine so i count that as our "30 trip" even though our bdays are a few months apart.

Mine is later this summer, and a few weeks before our 5th wedding anniversary. Kids will be 13 months, but we're not ready to leave them overnight. So I think we're going to take a family camping trip.
We just had a big family party for DH's 30th. It was actually really fun!

Went to Maui for my 30th with my DH. We just got engaged a month before so it was a double celebration. Needless to say I was happy as a clam!

My 30th is in two weeks! We are taking a long weekend and dropping DS off with grandma. It will be our first weekend away from him. I'm nervous but I'm so excited to spend the weekend with just DH. It's been a crazy year and we could use some alone time.

We had a 4 week old who never slept. My family came over with Chinese food and them DH, the baby and I probably went to bed before 8pm. If we didn't try to sleep early we didn't get any sleep in those days!

Heh! That was awhile ago, but I spent it on a deserted island in Thailand with no electricity eating a fish that was caught and cooked especially for me, and watching a lightening storm. Though it wasn't recent, it was a fabulous way to ring in 30!
This weekend I will ring in my not 30th birthday by being on overnight call I spent my 35th on call too.

I mentioned this on another thread about the best party ever: I threw myself a big 20s inspired party at a bar in the East Village and performed a burlesque fan dance for my friends. Everyone dressed up, it was awesome!

Vegas! And had the most amazing time. Was pre LO tho. If you can stand to be away from LO I would do Vegas. Good food, shopping, relaxing and fun! Already planning the trip back for DH 40th.

My friends threw me a surprise party for my 30th. We had dinner at my favorite restaurant in Boston, Tapeo on Newbury St., then we went to a piano bar in the Fenway area called Jake Ivory's where everyone sings along with the piano players. We had a blast that night.
DH's 30th is next summer and in the past few days I've started thinking about awesome things we could do. We'll have an 8.5 month old then so I'm not sure what we can realistically do. At first I was thinking Vegas (toned down from what most people do of course) but maybe that's crazy. Also considering a Caribbean cruise.

And my 30th is in October, as is my husband's, and I had hoped to do a weekend in Savannah with friends, but we have a long weekend trip planned in August and September, so I feel bad taking off more work. Besides that, almost all of our friends are pregnant, trying to get pregnant, or just had (or will have had just had) a baby.
My SIL has been begging to throw us a party, so I might oblige. We haven't celebrated a birthday since we turned 21, so it would be fun.

I told my husband I wanted to take a long weekend trip just the two of us; he said he couldn't imagine the leaving the kids behind, even for a night. Aaaaaahhhhhhhh! Eta: we agreed that we would take a big family vacation, instead, maybe somewhere beachy.

I surprised DH with a trip to Vegas for his 30th...feels like forever ago (he just turned 35).
My 30th was last summer and DH surprised me with a dinner at an amazing restaurant with my closest friends....it ended up being a double surprise, as I got to tell all of them that we were expecting!
