I started wearing them when I was 10! I was looking around the dinner table and realized how lucky I was to have them since nobody else has and I have super straight teeth!

Oh yes, I had braces from 6th grade to 9th grade. I appreciate that my parents did that for me because I had a gap between my top two front teeth.

Yep! For 2 years I think. I was a sophomore when I got them. I wore headgear at night too. it's funny because when I was little I wanted braces so badly but they sucked once I got them. Totally worth it though.

Yup, from 5th to 8th grade. I loved getting bright colored bands!

I had braces as an adult, but it wasn't to straighten my teeth.

For 4 years! I was born with oodles of extra teeth so when I lost my baby teeth I had to have surgery, then buttons had to be put on all actual teeth to drag them down, and once down far enough braces to line them up where they should be.

@autumnlove: I did 2 rounds too! I did a super short treatment in my early 20s to fix a tooth that had moved out of place. I think I was much more appreciative this time around

Yup, I had them for almost four years and I still wear my retainers because I'm paranoid about them getting crooked again!

I had them from 6-8th grade, didn't wear my retainers, and did invisalign when I was 26 or so. Sucked paying for it myself the second time but it was worth it- I hated parts of my smile before. It's pretty much a given our kids will needs them, considering my and dh's teeth naturally.

Yep, for 2 years from 7th to 9th grade. Considering I had them and DH really needed them (but never got them) I assume our kids will need them.

@MrsSCB: I had braces but never wore my retainer. Now my teeth are crooked again but not as bad as before. My parents are not impressed!

I need them. My bottom teeth are crooked and my jaw does not line up properly. But I would have to have jaw surgery to correct my under bite once my teeth are straightened. Not sure I want to do that...

I'm wearing the clear ceramic braces right now, and i'm officially in my 30's too.....
Not fun

Yup, about a year and a half, around 9th grade, after some time with a retainer.

I didn't but have a very slight gap in my front teeth, mostly only noticeable to me and don't really want to get them now.

@zippylef: same! DH really needed them so I think our kids will.
I had them from 11-13. My two bottom front teeth have slightly started to shift and it's bothering me. Maybe I'll get Invisalign.
DH has Invisalign and it's only slightly helped even though he is almost done with it.

I never had them. My parents couldn't really afford them. I would love to get invisalign or the braces that go behind your teeth. I plan on looking into it once LO is here.

I was a dental freak of nature and all my teeth grew in straight, but i also loved ripping my loose teeth out as a little girl so maybe that helped? My parents, and older brother had braces though.

Yes, my teeth were perfectly straight but at 17 I still had 1 baby tooth becauase my 'big' tooth was stuck. They put braces on to open the space for that tooth to come down, then once it was down closed everything back up again. Ugh.

i never needed them when i was younger (blessed with great teeth!) but once i was in my 20s, my lower front teeth have shifted. it bothers me, but when i talked to the dentist about it he said that the bone there is very thin and that i could get braces to fix them temporarily, but that they wouldn't stay =/ my top teeth are perfect though and you really never see the bottom one that's crooked so it is what it is!

Yep. For 3 years. I got them off the week before I started high school!

@Foodnerd81: @Mrs. Monkey: My SIL stopped wearing hers and her teeth went totally back to where they started. I feel like I'm going to wear mine for the rest of my life because I scared! Haha

Nope. I had the retainer with the key in it but that was it. I was lucky.
