@spaniellove: that would creep me out, however, I have occasionally driven by my old houses, just to see what they've done or changed, and I guess I never thought about them spotting me lol

once, they came by to see if any mail had been sent there. he saw a piece of carpet (that they apparently had put in new in order to sell) had been destroyed by our puppy and asked what happened. he seemed pretty annoyed by it, too.

They came to a condo party once but refused to come upstairs because it would make them too sad.

I drive by my childhood house every time I am in Maryland though, just to see it.

Our house is from the 50's, and the previous owners had raised their children in the home. We purchased it from the owner's children in 2006, as they decided to take their mother (their father had passed) up north with them to be closer. Maybe 3 years ago, she passed away, and when her children came back to town to bury her, they stopped by to see the house.

I think it really upset one of them because we gutted the entire thing, moved walls, and renovated the entire exterior. It looks nothing like it did before, but it hadn't once been changed since it was built. The carpet was even original (Eeek!). The oldest one was actually really excited about the changes, and thought it was nice that it had had a face-lift.

The lady who owned our house is our next door neighbours ex wife! They owned both houses and let one out to students but when they divorced she moved into the other house and they lived side by side for near on ten years, bringing up their children! Weird! She comes by often to pick up her grown up children who still live with their dad. She still has loads of mail delivered here, even after 18 months, and sends her son over to collect it. Its pretty annoying actually but I'd feel like a jerk complaining.

Ugh, yes. I don't know what happened to the mom (it was just a mom and son), but the son is best friends with our next door neighbor, and I see them both standing in the neighbor's backyard staring at our house (no fences, so it's kinda like one yard). While we were replacing windows a couple years ago he was standing in front of our house looking pathetic, and trying to talk to us about the house, so I ended up inviting him in to see our changes... it was super weird. We've never changed our garage code, and I often worry that he just comes in and snoops around while we're not there...

Yup! They moved into a bigger house in the same subdivision so we see them regularly!

The previous owners of our house made meth and got busted and then the house got foreclosed. Can't say I've run into them. I don't even know who they are. But we got our house super cheap!

No. In my first house, she moved out of state. This house was brand new.

That being said, I've been known to drive past our old house. It's on a cul-de-sac street of just 8 houses, so I feel like a super creeper when I drive on that street. I like to see what the new owners have done and I'm still waiting to see the fence the neighbor behind us said he was putting in go up. He told us he was putting one up 7 years ago...

New build, so no! But we go back to our old neighbourhood still! I have Mom friends there and the buyer's of our old house text time to time with mail they have for us (even though we paid for mail forwarding!) and so we chat and they have asked us a few things! We love the house so have no problem with any questions they may have!

We never have. I always thought we might, our neighbors are still in touch with the previous owners. I'd love to show them the changes we have made to the place. I think it would blow their minds They lived here for 19 years and maintained it beautifully. We've been here for 3 years and transformed the place.

I would get creeped out too though if I just saw them slowly roll by the house in their car. Glad you're on good terms with your previous owner!

They moved to Texas before selling, so we never even met them!

Yeah, he is a real estate agent and a friend of my dad's (my dad is also an agent and sold us our home).
We get him mail all the time (it's been 3.5 years) and I give it to my dad so he can take it to work with him and give it to the guy.

Not a homeowner, so no. But I sometimes creep on the house I grew up in. They let the lawn go to hell, but they replaced the windows which look nice! My mom put so much effort into making an awesome colorful beautifully maintained garden, and now its just weeds and it always makes her sad to see, haha.

No, but he's a local real estate agent so we sometimes see his face on for sale signs! We've been in touch once or twice about mail we've gotten for his late parents (the house was actually an estate sale and he was the executor/listing agent) but just forwarded it, so we didn't actually see him. I often wonder if he ever drives by and, if so, whether he approves of how we're taking care of his childhood home.

Nope, we bought ours from the previous owner's estate.

Yes! Our neighborhood is all really close, lots of kids. SO when we first bought they would come to neighborhood get togethers. We built a fence and did some pretty big projects that they knew about. It was kind of awkward with them knowing we were changing so much about the house right away. It has been over 5 years now and they have stopped hanging out with our neighbors so now we don't ever see them:)

@spaniellove: Hmm that is creepy. I actually have a fear of the previous owners driving by because she was really into gardening and I know she won't think we are keeping it up to her standards.

I will say, I'd love to go into my old childhood home to see what changes they've made (though I think it would make me a bit sad). It's amazing how many emotions are tied up in previous homes.
