@lawbee11: mirror was nice as a NB. Car seat protector are only necessary if you have a newish leather interior. Sun shade - absolutely. Just make sure it works for your car.

We have tinted windows so I'm not sure about the sun shade.

Our boys are too old for the mirror, but we did buy seat protectors for the back of the front seats so when they decide to kick at the back of our seats they don't get them dirty. Awesome purchase for older kids. Which doesn't help you at this moment. lol!

I use the mirror with my convertible seat, but I don't know if it helps or hinders, honestly. I should be looking ahead, not in the rear view mirror.

I think these products are good in theory, but honestly, aren't supposed to be used. They're all considered aftermarket products and could affect the function of your seat and warranty.

I don't have any. They didn't really work in my car.

The sunshade never stayed put and with her in the middle seat of an SUV, there wasn't much sun that got to her.

The mirror (we tried 2) didn't work with our headrest and the way her seat sat.

I didn't have any. I don't know about the other ones but I know you're not supposed to put anything between the seat and the carseat.

What I did find useful are those toys that hang on the handlebar..Dd hated her carseat for a long time and when we got one she was so much happier and more willing to sit in the carseat.

I really love our mirror. I'd like to get a sun shade but haven't really looked for one that would be safe & I used to use as eat protector but have since learned they aren't safe & interfere with proper install so we don't use it.... It does make me twitch thinking about the carseat being on the seat long term though. Eek!

The carseat classes I took said no after market accessories attached to the car seat, and no accessories in or around the car since they become dangerous projectiles in a crash. So, we have nothing. And we have had no issues in the car at all. I can't see her when I drive but I can reach back and stroke her head while I am stopped at a light or something if I need to comfort her/check on her.

I use all 3 (what is this about the mirror?) and am glad for every single one of them! I also have a couple of toys that Velcro on to the sides of LO's car seat (not an arch that goes overhead . . . she doesn't like those!) that she really likes.

@highwire: I still really go back and forth on having the mirror. I guess I could throw it at DH's head to see if it hurts him & then go from there. Lol

The other things were easy for me to not use... Although I have heard some techs suggest a certain kind of shade, one that just sticks on, like static cling, without the dangerous hard pieces others have?.. Idk. P has the sun in her face all the time & it makes me feel bad

We have mirrors, but got soft ones. The idea is if you'd be ok throwing the object at LO it's ok for the car (not that you would intentionally, but you get the idea...soft toys, etc.)

We used the canopies on the bucket seat and that was fine. Our minivan has pull up window shades, so that's what we use now that they are in convertibles, but I think that or sunglasses/hat are pretty necessary when it's sunny. Again, something as soft as possible in case it becomes a projectile.

The seat protectors can prevent getting a good tight fit on the install, so we opted against them. But if you have to have one, pick one that is made by your car seats manufacturer and get the install inspected.

We needed a shade and mirror. LO HATED the car. Screamed like a banshee at every red light for three months. Knowing that it wasn't because there was actually a problem was hugely comforting. I don't buy the mirror-as-projectile bit, depending on the kind. Ours is soft and attaches to the LATCH tether behind the headrest. If I can't trust it to hold a cloth mirror, I have bigger safety concerns about the car and LO's safety than the mirror itself.

We had a mirror but got rid of if after our California Highway Patrol officer informed us that it's dangerous to have a mirror facing the baby. He said that in the event of a car accident, the baby's face can get seriously injured upon impact with the mirror. Ours was plastic but he still said it was dangerous so we got rid of it. We loved it when we were using it though.

Mirror yes....the seat protector actually interfered with us being able to attach the seat using LATCH so unfortunately we couldn't use it. We haven't used the sunshade, since his carseat is in the middle.

@banana: the mirror is up on the headrest, so I just don't see how it would be a problem either way. I'm usually a worrywart, but this one really just doesn't feel like taking a chance to me. Obviously not everyone feels that way, but that's my two cents!

I really like the mirror. DH has all of the accessories, but he is especially nutty about his car getting messed up, so the seat protector was a necessity for him.

The mirror was crucial. The sun shade, certainly not. I'd forget that one, and just try it if you seem to have a baby who cares. I also didn't bother with the protector underneath. When I switched out my seats, the leather was pretty messy, but it cleaned easily. Maybe if you have cloth seats, you might need it more.

The mirror I have is all soft fabric, almost like a stuffed animal. I always wondered why, honestly, but I see now that this projectile stuff is a concern.

The mirror is very big for us! I check back on him all the time! We also called him our little vampire as he HATED the sun. Whenever it would shine on him in the car, he would try to get away from it. So the sunshade certainly helped with that. We also have the seat protector, but honestly, I don't know that it's doing much for us. So I would say that's something you can do without.
