DH went with FIL to buy a used SUV, FIL bought him a freaking brand new camaro!!!!!!!!!

Yep! My parents paid $500 for it. It was a Dodge Spirit. It was so ugly and didn't have heat or air. I didn't care at all.

No - I bought a used car when I was in college.

I think I got it about 6 months later. My parents bought it, it was a pretty rough clunker I think they paid like $800 for (92 dodge spirit, purchased in 2002), but drove well enough and lasted me about 1.5 years before it totally died.

My dad got a used car for me. I think he spent about $3k for it.

My parents gave me the Toyota Camry while they got a new car. I got the car on the conditions of picking up and dropping of my younger siblings to their extra curricular activities: basketball, violin lessons, eagle scouts, choir practices.

I got an old clunker of a car sometime around when I got my license, mostly because my parents were tired of driving my brother and I around to all our activities, and that way I could do it.

This is embarassing, I got my license at 17 and didn't get a car until I was 28!
Between the bus, metro, streetcars, and subway--I never needed one until recently.

Yup. Our 1979 beater wasn't safe, so I got a new Dodge Shadow!

Yes. My aunt gave me her old Cadillac El Dorado so she could buy herself a new Lexus. I'm pretty much a daughter to my aunt so I was so, so fortunate. It was a beast of a car though and the radio didn't work.

Yes! A 1992 Toyota Celica with a manual transmission. I wasn't allowed to drive until I learned to drive stick.

I got a hardship license at age 15, and my parents bought me a used car that year to drive myself and siblings to school.

Nope, used my parents and grandparents. I bought my grandparents car when I was 19 and was sick of using the bus and bumming rides.

Yeah, I got the hand me down Toyota Corolla. Loved that car! My parents bought it brand new in '89 and drove it forever, then my brother drove it, then my parent's got it back, then my sister got it, then I did. LOL Then a few months later a guy turned left in front of me and totaled the car. That was sad. (and scary)

Yes, a Nissan Maxima, BUT I got my license kinda late and was a REALLY good student. And the baby!

My grandma gave me a Chevy Corsica when I got my permit to learn how to drive. I loved having a car senior year, lots of adventures in that one!

I had my school permit first, I got my sister who was going off to college's car, it was so beat up from her! I ended up getting a better one when I turned 16 after it was causing so many issues.

I got an ancient volvo that I loved. It had a built in car phone! No one had a car phone but me!
Between the bus, metro, streetcars, and subway--I never needed one until recently.
