Quicker than expected but happily with #1.
This pregnancy much slower. I thought I'd be pregnant withing three or four months...not so!

Much longer. In school the sex ed we got was pretty much to say "have sex once before marriage and you'll get pregnant and get STDs". I was fairly well educated about it by the time I decided to have a baby, but it stuck in my head that all I had to do was stop birth control and BAM. Then it took us 13 cycles with two losses to get E...
I'm hoping this next one wil happen faster...I want to be pregnant like now!

Faster than we thought, but not faster than I wanted. With DS, it took 3 months/4 cycles. With this baby, it was about the same timeline, maybe a little longer.

With my miscarriage baby, it was WAY faster... as in the first time we pulled the goalie. With lo#1, it was slower coming after the m/c. And lo#2 was a bit of a surprise so it was definitely faster.

Way longer, 2.5 years to get pregnant with LO. IF really sucks. It ended up working out well because we were in a great place by the time we finally got pregnant, not that we weren't doing ok when we started trying we just had a lot more in savings and got better jobs and insurance since we started trying.

Well, I had this gut feeling it would take a while to get pregnant, so not necessarily longer than I expected but certainly longer than I wanted. 9 cycles (6 months) plus assistance for it to happen!

Pretty much right when I wanted to! I didn't think the 1st cycle off BC and not tracking much would do it anyway. 2nd cycle I was still unsure about O and didn't DTD at the right times.. So 3rd time was a charm!

Doubly quicker, haha.
Second month off bc, NTNP and I was pregnant with twins.

Much quicker. I had planned on it taking a full year, it took one cycle.

Quicker both times. We were ntnp after our wedding and got pregnant 6 months later. I don't know why I didn't expect it to happen. For #2 it was the first month ttc. Total shocker because I didn't even ovulate until cd 26. I used opks that time

I got pregnant on our honeymoon, in my first cycle off birth control after several years with an IUD. It was definitely much faster than expected - based on everything we'd read we figured it would take at least a couple of months - but obviously we wanted to have a baby or I wouldn't have been off BC.

Yikes! Much faster. DS1 was an oops baby though we had pulled the goalie and I was only tracking my cycle. I forgot to check just one time! The 2nd time, we got pregnant on the first cycle. We started a little early just in case it would take some time.

Slower the first time. It took 13 months of actively TTC with a m/c in there. This time, it was our first month I got my cycle back and we were preventing (kinda), but had an oops, so wayyyy faster than we expected, but we were thrilled.

Longer than I expected. I knew we would be battling IF (I got a referral to an RE as soon as I told my OB we want to TTC) but going into it I thought it would take one or two cycles with medication and I would be pregnant. Boy was I wrong. It took 8 cycles spread out over 18 months before I got pregnant.

Quicker than I expected for #1, but not necessarily quicker than I wanted. We got pregnant as soon as I stopped the pill.
#2 happened just when we wanted it to.
#3 was much, much, much quicker. We were preventing and not planning on ttc for another year.

I agree with those who say quicker than expected but not quicker than wanted. We waited until we were definitely ready to start TTC, and it's a good thing we did. Of my four pregnancies, only one took more than one try, and it only took two! Two of these pregnancies happened with literally only one try. The first time DH was working a ton so we just only had time to DTD once in my fertile window, and this time we had intended to wait another month but DH pulled the goalie just once and that was all it took.
That being said, actually having a baby has taken a LOT longer than we wanted. It will be over two years from first TTC to when this LO is born, assuming she's not very early. We get pregnant easily, but we don't make healthy babies very well!

quicker - I got pregnant try #1 with both LOs, and with the second, we only dtd once.

Quicker! We had a conversation in the middle of the night like, "Wouldn't it be cool to have a baby!?" and then had unprotected sex and got pregnant.
I love her, but I wish I had given it a little more thought.

Just when we wanted with LO #1, and faster with this pregnancy! But we're excited!

I was expecting about 6 months, and it took 6 cycles. So I guess, exactly what I was expecting! And looking back, if I had had my son earlier, it would have really complicated things in terms of work and travelling home to my family half the world away. The timing ended up being really perfect.

Quicker than expected but slower than I wanted. I went off the pill 6 months before TTC to get into good health even though I was ready then and it took 2 cycles once we started.
#2 we are up to cycle #3 but only 2nd in a row so we will see how long it takes.
kiwi / 578 posts
Slower! I was prepared for it to take 3-6 cycles but not 20! That being said, the timing is perfect

Slower the first time - 8 mos, 1 m/c
Second time was the second month which was great.
pear / 1547 posts
Slower. 2 cycles after pulling the goalie pregnant but then ended in miscarriage. Then 6 more cycles until pregnant with LO! We're going to start a bit earlier than planned for LO2 because I don't want to stress about TTC like last time. I'd like a good chunk of relaxed TTC without OPKs and obsessing over my app!

We knew it was possible, but it was quicker than we thought. We're in our mid to late 30s, so I was prepared for it to take a few months. We weren't all out TTC yet, and all it took was one time in the fertile window!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
Slower, much slower! Who knew getting pregnant could be such a hard thing to do!
persimmon / 1179 posts
We conceived both babies on the first month trying, which is crazy to me. The first time it was perfect, this time around I kind of had an "oh shit" moment wondering if we should have waited a bit longer to try. LO1 was 17 mo at the time. Shortly after, the initial shock wore off and now I'm really happy about the gap.
