I've been on bc for 11 years and have never gotten pregnant. I take a generic of Yasmin. And that's the only protection my husband and I use.

If you're definitely done what about a vasectomy?

I just know two pull out babies. The rest, no one has admitted if they weren't planned.

@scg00387: Scary! I plan to go on the mirena a after #2 because we're talking a hefty break between 2-3.

@Mrs. Bee: vasectomies sound like a good plan because they can be reversed! And it's a 1 day non-invasive procedure so neither partner is having to undergo surgery. Also: in the Lon run I am sure it's healthier than taking hormones until you hit menopause!
But I never got pregnant on the 6 years I was on the depo shot:) hell, it took 6m after the shot to get pregnant as well because apparently it depletes your uterine lining so much that an egg can't even implant if it is accidentally get fertilized. Took 3m for me to grow it back to a healthy(for pregnancy) level.

I know failures of every single method including tubal ligation!

My sister got pregnant on the pill a few months after getting married - but I'm guessing it was due to inconsistency.

@Mrs. Jacks: when doing our research it said something like 1.5% of tubal ligations still get pregnant. It has me a little scared!

@Mrs. Train: @Mrs. Blue: Sorry to scare you!!! But I've seen the medical record, the tubals were just as real as the pregnancies that followed them.

My friend has two she said were conceived on birth control, Tri-Sprintec, but I think she just wasn't taking it correctly. Her youngest is three now and she's still taking Tri-Sprintec and hasnt gotten pregnant again... I'm not sure why she continues to take the same pill but she has. They may be using condoms as well now, I've never asked.

Mini pill babies! I guess I'll be better about taking it then. I have some pregnancy tests I take occasionally to be sure it's working.

We kind of joke about this now, but reading this thread I'm almost sure I want to have a tubal AND make DH get a vasectomy.

@Mrs. Jacks: our family friend got pregnant after having her tubes tied.. She was 42, so it was definitely a surprise!

My mom's coworker has an IUD.. She though she has a fibroid growing, but after seeing her gyn, she found out she's pregnant with twins!

I guess someone always has to be the "1".
