No, but every time I go to the dentist they comment how "they can set it up for me" or "I need to do this before I turn 30." I need to stop putting it off and just do all 4 at once! Maybe this winter when I can afford to miss a little work!

I had all four removed when I was a junior in high school. They were all impacted, so I'm glad that I did it all at once!

I only have my upper ones! I was born without the lower ones, thankfully. One is in, and one is impacted... I need to get it over with and have them removed. Eek.
pomelo / 5220 posts
I only have 1 and it came in straight so the dentist says to just leave it.
nectarine / 2132 posts
no i have all 4. my dentist doesn't see any reason to pull them if they're not causing any issues.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Nope! I'm keeping mine!!!
@jmarionsmith: Woohoo for keeping our wisdom teeth!

Yes, I had to get all four removed at once because they were all impacted. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be!

I had them extracted (all impacted) my junior or senior year of high school.

Yes, all four. And it was the second most painful experience i ever had (after childbirth).
pomegranate / 3160 posts
Nope, not yet. My dentist is not happy about it either! I was supposed to get them out like, 8 years ago and just...never did. I have all 4. 2 are all the way in, the other two are about halfway through. I really don't have any issues with them, I have to pay pretty close attention to making sure no food or anything gets stuck under the "gum flap" of the ones that are halfway through, but that's about it. I'm just lazy and don't want to deal with the surgery/cost.

@LuLu Mom: My dentist kept saying something to me about them as my uppers came in a year or two ago. Honestly, they aren't bothering me and I don't find it necessary to extract them since they came in straight, so I'm leaving them.

Yes I had it done 2 years this December. I had the top 2 done as they were impacted, it was a terrible experience and the bottom ones need to come out soon.

mine were all impacted when I had them removed at 23. I should have done it earlier--the nurse said my nerve endings "were as curly as my hair" and I have VERY curly hair! And then I had horrible, horrible dry sockets and it was a rough recovery. More than 6 years later, I still actually have a tingly feeling on my chin when I touch it in a certain place, my nerve endingss definitely got f*ed up! (excuse the language
)

Still got mine. 3 of them are through completely and don't seem to be causing any problems, and I'm not sure the 4th even exists since I've never felt a peep from it. Of course, it's been an embarrassingly long time since I've been to a dentist, so I can't remember if I actually only have 3 or not.

Yes, all of them after my freshman year of college. They were impacted and I had dry socket. I got sick afterwards because I was allergic to the antibiotics, so recovery was pretty miserable and I was weak for a long time.

All 4 done when I was 18, it sucked at the time but at least I didn't miss work time etc.

I only had uppers (lucky me!). The first one was an emergency extraction after it got infected...and left me with a locked jaw (the infection, not the extraction) while I was in the middle of doing my master's. That was super fun. The second one was a planned extraction and it was super easy...I didn't even know he'd done it; I was still bracing myself for it when he was like,"You can open your eyes. It's over."

I had all 4 removed when I was 16? Wasn't a big deal because they kind of put me under a light sleep.

All four last Thursday. Worst pain I've ever experienced, including DS's posterior birth with 100+ stitches episiotomy.

I had four extracted back in hs before i got my braces.
I had a really good experience tho, minimal swelling and i ate later that night, normal food... never filled my Rx either.

@rachiecakes:
My lowers gave me sooooo much trouble....I had to go back and they stuffed the sockets with tea tree strips (I think?) to relieve the pain. I hope you feel better soon!

Yes. In January of this year. Two of them had finally started to poke through and my dentist recommended going ahead and extracting all 4 even though they didn't hurt. He told me it should heal quickly and be pretty painless since 2 of them hadn't even poked through. Also my insurance should pay for almost all of the procedure.
Well it took me 3 full weeks to be able to eat normally again and to recover. I was in so much pain. My insurance had also only covered 40%. I got screwed. Everyone told me I'd be fine in a couple of days and it took almost a month to get better. Wish I wouldn't have had it done.

I had mine removed last year. My cheeks swelled to an unbelievable size and I had a lot of bruising, but I was never in pain. My DH keeps a pic of me with my swollen cheeks in his phone and looks at it when he needs a good laugh.

@LuLu Mom: no one ever told me to do it before I was 30, they just said I should think about having them removed. Then I got a cavity in one and try said I should just do it now, but that it would be harder since I was over 30!
I had all 4 removed at once. It sucked for a few days but I took the hard core pain killers at night and Advil during the day, plus lots of time with the ice pack. I could eat sort of normal food within about a week.

@autumnlove: thanks! I thought it would be a breeze, ugh
@Danizaur: nooo! That's awful. I haven't had anything to eat since Wednesday. I feel like it will be a while, everything's so swollen and sore.
Also, I've heard it's worse as you get older, the roots grow deeper into the jaw and your bones aren't young & soft. Especially after you've had a baby and are over 30. I'm 33.

@2PeasinaPod: None of mine have came through, they are still underneath (for the longest time they thought I might be one of those people who don't get them) but unfortatnely they showed up late. My dentist's push is that the surgery is a lot easier on a younger person & if they were to become infected when older it's a lot harder to heal. I would like to get them out and done with before my next pregnancy though.

Nope! Still have ALL my teeth. The dentist is always surprised when he looks in my mouth and sees how many teeth I have, lol.

I had mine extracted when I was 26. They were impacted and I was having pain.
I woke up and didnt realize he had already finished.
I was super woozy, but no pain. It was way easier than I expected.

I had all four out at once when I was 19 or 20. It really wasn't as bad as I'd feared.

I only had 3, but they were all cut out when I was 14. It was terrible, but possibly moreso because I was mildly allergic to the painkillers. Whoops!

One in my early 20s because it was impacted, and the other three came out at 27ish. The single was worse!

I had all 4 removed when I was 15, I think. I don't remember it being too awful - I went shopping the next day!
