I didn't get a HS grad party because of family stuff that was going on...
When I graduate college you bet I will be celebrating with family and friends!

HS - we had a party at our house with 2 bushels of crabs.
College - we did a fancy dinner with a few of my friends and family that came to my college town for it.

Yes, my mom threw me a party for both. They were small, but it gave us something to do after the ceremony. College graduation was so much fun. After the family party I partied with my friends all.night.long!

My parents threw me one after high school, and we did a family dinner at a restaurant after undergrad and law school.

Nope and nope. DH took me out to a nice dinner to celebrate my masters, though! I'm so jealous looking at everyone's cap and gown photos! I had a 6 week old and couldn't travel yet
Definitely throwing DH a get together when he graduates in 2016!

I definitely had one after high school... I can't remember if we had one after college... maybe? Probably?? The HS one was a BBQ at our house. And the college one would've been the same if it happened... can't remember...

Graduation parties are huge in my hometown. We have them all throughout senior year, hosted by multiple people (like a wedding or baby shower). I think I had 3 or 4 in my honor, and went to probably 30 or more. Most had a theme, like luau or bunko or crawfish boil. There were favors and games and food. It was awesome!
After my college graduation, my family just went out to eat. NBD.

Not HS since we only lived in the town for a couple years and no close family. I don't even remember if my parents took me out for dinner. I know my grandparents came up to visit though.
Right after college, I moved back to GA and my family through my cousin and I a joint party.

I don't remember for hs. I don't think so. When DH and I graduated from college my ILs threw us a combined graduation party. She even had a custom cake made of a famous building! Lol

For HS just a very small party with my family and one other family we were close to. Just dinner out with my parents and brother for college.

I had a party after both. Nothing fancy, just grilling with family and close friends at home.

@Mrs. Pen: I had my high school grad party with a group of friends. I had a seafood boil for my college graduation party.
I hadn't have a party when I graduated from grad school because I had DS 2 months before.

both, i think! i vividly remember my college one, but now i'm having a hard time remembering if i had my own HS one or it was joint with friends?

No. My mom just saw them as a money grab so I wasn't allowed to have one. Ironically, she went to every grad party she was invited to and gave money. Also my little brother had a huge HS grad party. So that was awesome.

no, but I don't know anyone who had parties for HS or university? must not be a trend in my area!
I DID get money and gifts from extended family, though!

No big parties, but dinners with the family who were there to see me walk for my college diploma. For grad school, same thing--just dinner in a restaurant with my family.

I had a HS grad party; in my town (midwest) everyone at my school/church had one, and you invited the whole church and all your extended family. It was just how it's done. Usually people would have bonfires for their close friends afterwards as well. Mine was awful (though that was my own fault; I was dating a horrrible guy at the time and I let him ruin it for me and all my friends were mad at me for spending way too much time with him at it. But I digress). For college we just went out for dinner the day before the ceremony, but I got married 2 weeks after college graduation so it was kind of like a grad party (though I had technically graduated a semester early, I walked with the rest of my class). For grad school graduation, my husband and I will be graduating at the same time so we'll probably plan something special--probably not a party since neither of us really like them, but maybe a family vacation!
