I finally got a library card today. The lady at the front desk seemed shocked I didn't have one, but before LO, I either borrowed them or read books on my Nook and never felt the need to go to the library. And I read a lot! Now that we go to the library for baby time every week I decided to take the plunge.

To answer, I did have a card that I hadn't used in so long that I had to get a new one after she was born. One of our very first outings and a couple weeks old was a walk to the library for my new card.

I did have a library card before LO was born. I mainly borrowed eBooks or audio books, but sometimes I would get a DVD or a physical book.
The board books at the Seattle libraries are available to borrow without checking out (you can just grab them and walk out the door), but I assume we'll be checking out a lot of physical books once LO gets a little older.

I had one but I only used it for ebooks. After DS was one I got him a card and he's checked out books a few times.

Yep, I got a library card a few weeks after moving here. I borrow mostly ebooks and occasionally regular ones.
@Woolly Mammoth: I love that about the board books! I haven't actually checked out any books for DD yet because I don't trust her with anything except board books. Also, did you know that there's a "summer reading" program and even the littlest kids get a free book?

I got my first library card when I was a kid and have had an active one ever since. I go to the library weekly. I'm looking forward to taking LO.

@Tanjowen: Your poll needs to be fixed. You apparently put one of your answers in the field where you are supposed to put the poll question. You need to put 'I didn't have a library card before LO' as a 4th poll choice, so it doesn't mess with the current polling answers.

I have pretty much had an active library card since I got my first when I was a kid! More recently it was for ebooks which is so so awesome!

Yes, always had one. I use it a lot for work with study groups and online room reservations.

Baby isn't here yet but I've always had a library card and when I moved to this state I got a local one fairly quickly to save money when I want to read a book that I'm not sure I will read again. I'm really looking forward to using my card with LO for borrowing books and going to story time. We also have toy borrowing at some of our libraries so that will be cool!

I haven't been to the library in such a long time, mainly because DD used to go haywire in there and want to run amok. As a kid I would walk there every Tuesday, stock up on reading for the week (hellooo baby sitters club & sweet valley!!), and then stop for a donut and walk back home again. I really need to start taking DD more often so that she can get used to it, but hopefully she will settle a bit after she starts kinder.

I got one when pregnant, and then another one to a different library after LO. However I don't check out kids books because so far I haven't trusted Lo to not be too rough on them.

I has one growing up but haven't gotten one in any new city since moving away from home. I plan to get one once LO is old enough to do things at the library though.

Getting a library card is one of the first things I do when I move to a new place. I use it as a resource for work and school, as well as for personal stuff, so I routinely have 20+ books out at a time.
