DH grew up with one and really wants to buy a home with a pool or a home with a large backyard so we can have one built.

Both DH and I had pools in our backyards growing up. We live in the same town as our parents (who have the pools) though so neither of us want a pool in our yard. We can just use our parents' pools whenever we want without having to pay for the upkeep and worry about the kids getting into it!

I grew up with a pool and it was a huge project to maintain. Now we live in a neighborhood with 4-5 community pools that we have access to. They are private pools only accessible to the neighborhood. I love it! We get to enjoy the pools, but don't have to worry about any of the maintenance. I hope to always live in a neighborhood like this.

My parents had one built when I was in 6th grade! It was awesome! My siblings and I were in that pool everyday all summer long.

We had one growing up, DH didnt. We live in an apartment now, so no pool. But I can still go swim at my parents' if I feel like it:)

Neither of us had a pool growing up. We have a neighborhood pool a couple streets away. We love going.

We had an above-ground pool growing up.
We have an inground pool now, and it's nice to have, but it's a LOT of work too!!!!

My parents had one put in. Some days I'd love a pool.... but I don't want to deal with cleaning and maintenance. We have a big backyard if we ever change our mind.

Apparently we had an above-ground pool for a while, but a dog jumped in and bit a hole through the lining. I have no desire to ever own a pool. They're literal money pits.

Yes but only cause we are still living in DH bachelor pad condo. We are looking for a house and I am going to miss the pool.

I had one growing up. My chore was to clean it every Saturday. I still loved it!

I love our in-ground pool...it's awesome for parties and super nice to have to exercise in during the pregnancy but
1. it's a lot of work
2. I'm really scared for when the kids are at that walking but not swimming age yet. They are going to swim classes as soon as they can! -
DH and I both had pools growing up, I spent MANY a summer day in that pool. We don't have one now, but we do have access to il's pool whenever we want.
@TurtleDoves: my parents had us in swimming classes from the age of 3 until we reached the lifeguard phase. Invaluable to learn proper swimming and safety techniques.
@Mrs. Jacks: I had to clean the pool growing up too, but I hated it! -
I didn't grow up with a pool. But we belonged to a pool club and spent pretty much all day every day there during the summer (when we weren't at our beach house). Hubs grew up with an above ground pool. I think he would like to have a pool someday. But we both worry about the safety and money issues. If we had a pool it would have to have a separate fence around it or else I wouldn't be comfortable.

I didn't grow up with one. Our house has one, and I hate it. It is a lot to keep up, and I miss having a beautiful green grassy backyard. I barely use it. We're also already looking at swim class recommendations because our LO will begin lessons right at 6 months old and the best private coaches book up far in advance. I'm a nervous wreck about Ella and pool safety.
