Did you have an infant car seat or did you skip it and have a convertible car seat?
If you had one, how long did you use it for?

Yes we had a Peg. We used it until right at 8 months or so? Quite a while. T was small though.

We used it until LO was 13 months old--she was in a Britax B-safe and had another half inch or so until she grew out of it.

Yup, a Chicco Keyfit 30. LO 1 used it for 7 months and LO 2 used it for 12 months. The seat is in good condition and it doesn't "expire" until December 2016 so we plan on using it for LO 3.

Yes. We used it until 3-4 mo when she stopped sitting back in it comfortably.

Yep. With DS#1 I used it until he could sit up well enough to be in the stroller the normal way - before then that feature was super helpful! LO #2 was born in October and it's been even more useful with him because of the cold weather. I stress a lot about wanting him to be warm but not wanting to put him in anything thick that makes the car seat straps too loose, and the covers they sell for infant car seats are awesome for that!

We have a Graco Snugride 35. LO1 used it until she was a year. We are now using it for LO2. I love the portability of it for when they are very young. I couldn't imagine having to take her out of the seat at a store/restaurant/etc. It's so convenient to carry the carseat and snap on a stroller.

Yep, a Britax Chaperone. Bought it for DD1 she used it for 8ish months. DD2 is 10.5 months and still in it. I like that I can buckle her in the house and get ready without worrying that she's going to fall over or scoot away.

Chicco Keyfit 30 which we used until 15 months. So we got though two winter with it. LO was a January Baby and also on the small side as she's still only 24 pounds at 24 months.

Yes, Graco Snugride. We didn't use it long for either baby (couldn't even lift it after they reached a certain weight) but it was a sad, sad day when we switched to a convertible because you can't transfer them while they're sleeping. So every nap you are either stranded in your car while they're in the convertible or wherever you are out and about while they're in the stroller. With the infant carseat you just lift them out and go.

We used our infant car seat till about 16 months or so...she's small and didn't mind it.

We did. It's a Graco Snugride 35. It worked great until he outgrew it. The carseat is a green neutral color so his brother will use it when he arrives.

We were given a graco snugaride but my son outgrew it at 4 months. We are debating even getting one this time but it was sooo convenient

We have an uppababy Mesa are still using it at 9.5 months. We don't drive often but when we do we usually need the stroller and I love that it just clicks on

I'm pretty sure we used ours for a year. My lo is pretty little.

Yes, it was very useful even though we had to switch around 7-8 months. My son was a winter baby and it was nice to pack him up in the house and cover him with a blanket and the car seat cover. We might have another baby and get more use out of it.

We a Britax b-safe. Used it until she outgrew it...maybe 10 months? Totally, totally, worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing to be able to snap baby in and out without waking her up! Man, I was actually able to run errands and accomplish things when she was little! Those were the days!
My husband's best friend has used our seat this past year and we will be using it again soon for baby #2.

Yes, and it was 100% worth it. That thing was awesome. I miss being able to snap him in and out so easily and not having to wake him to get him out....

Yes, for about 14 months. I don't even know why we stopped... I loved it soooo much!

We have a Graco Snugride Click Connect 35 and used it for 9 months. I hope to use it for the next baby and will use it until they outgrow it/it expires, whichever comes first.

We intended to skip it but then friends generously loaned us their barely-used Britax B-Safe so we'll use that once LO is here. Honestly I am having a hard time grasping the appeal of the infant seat. Everyone says you can let LO stay asleep while you're running errands, but how are you carrying the infant seat while you're in the store? It's not safe to put the seat inside a grocery cart, and everyone on another thread seemed to agree that it would be bizarre to push a stroller around a grocery store, so I'm not really getting how it's supposed to work. Unless you're just supposed to lug it by hand which seems obnoxious.

8 months...but we could have skipped it because we only used the car on weekends.

@PawPrints: I totally pushed my stroller around the grocery store (and everywhere else I ran errands). I was never hassled and it honestly had a much smaller footprint and better maneuverability than a cart

@bluestriped bee: we used it until 7 months. She was getting heavy, and I wanted to switch to a convertible. I see the appeal of a convertible from the beginning, but it was nice to let her snooze in her seat at restaurants, etc.

@PawPrints: I never carried my seat or set it on a cart...we had a Mesa which clicked into our Vista and Cruz. Since those strollers had large baskets, we always used those for shopping and I never even used a shopping cart again until we stopped using the infant seat! If I looked bizarre, apparently I was oblivious to it.

yes, for 8 months. For us it was completely necessary, LO always fell asleep in the car, so I just carried the carseat or stick in the stroller and allowed her to continue to sleep. She took great naps in the car seat too, I can't imagine not having one for those first few months (born in October, so we had lots of cold newborn months.)

DS used a Chicco keyfit for about 8 months
Dd is was bigger than he was (same car seat) and I still have her in it at 11 months. She's super heavy but it's winter here and it's nice to have her covered sometimes.

We used a Britax B-Safe for our daughter until she was about 13 months old.

@PawPrints: I think it's safe to put the carrier IN the cart... Not so safe to put it on top of the cart. I shopped with her in the cart all the time and also walked around the mall, park, etc with her sleeping in the carrier clipped into the stroller. As other posters have stated, it was also super useful for taking her to restaurants. Man, I miss those early days when we could go out to eat during her naps!

Oh, wow. Thanks for all the responses. For some reason, I was under the impression a lot of people were skipping the infant seats. Also, good to know that most use it for at least 4 months or more.

I checked other because I skipped it but my mom bought me one and I got one when I bought a stroller later on. It's definitely great for restaurants. I would actually keep her in the convertible but bring along the infant one to put her in at restaurants.

Honestly I don't know how anyone skips it. Especially winter babies... But if they are sleeping... Grab the stroller or put them IN the cart. That is perfectly fine. Just not ON the cart like the kid seat up front or across the basket horizontally. I actually tell people at stores to take their baby off there. There is a picture on walmarts carts that specifically say not to do that, and many other stores too.
