If the baby factory is closed...another post got me wondering how closely people's family size corresponds to what they thought they wanted initially...and how often this is a result of choice versus intervening circumstances (financial, fertility-related, unplanned pregnancies, etc)
Did you have fewer, the same number, or more kids compared to your "ideal" number before TTC?

We are stopping at two, after this baby is born. I always wanted three but, after having my first, I realised just how tough having children was - for a while, I wasn't sure we would have another at all.

We aren't done yet but it will be fewer by circumstance- fertility related. We always wanted 3 and there is no way we will get there. I'd be thrilled with 2.

I am not 100% sure the baby factory is closed, but actually that's exactly where I was before having kids. We always said probably two, maybe but probably not 3. We have two, and are probably done.

We've been fairly consistent with wanting two. I'm about halfway through pregnancy with number two and we are done after this, 100%. I can't do pregnancy again and I'm not even sure at this point how I'll handle two, much less three. Even if something tragic happens this time, I'm done.

When I got pregnant with lo 1 we said we would stop at 2. No matter the sex . But when I got pregnant the 2nd time it was twins so that choice of 3 was made for us. My twins are 1 today!

I really want three but pregnancy and post is harder for me than I expected. I get horrible PPD/PPA and I just can't put my family through that again. Even if I'm willing, DH is not. We are done at 2.

DH and I thought we'd have 3 or maybe a late 4th via adoption or foster parent. Then we had lots of issues TTC and said if we could have one of each that would be grand. Then I had a terrible first pregnancy and an awful newborn with DS, had a surprise pregnancy now with DS2 due in May (this pregnancy not as bad but still pretty hard on me). I feel like physically I'm done with pregnancy and newborns, since they will be 20 months apart, but we may still have a 3rd via adoption or foster down the road.
So I guess we will end up with 2 boys in the end, with a possible 3rd later on but not through my vadge of courage unless Jesus has more surprises in store for us.

We both definitely wanted two, probably three but after seeing how hard pregnancy and post is on us, we'll be stopping at two.

We have always been 2-3. Right now we have 2. I miscarried this past fall and we're now debating if we're going to stick with 2 or try for another again.

Always wanted four and are 75% there. DH is currently thinking three is enough but I don't feel like she is my last baby.

We always wanted 2, but a whole lot earlier than we had them. Circumstance gave us the age gap.

My husband ahs always known he wanted kids. Initially, I think he would have wanted 2-3. I wasn't even sure if I wanted kids. Before we got engaged we agreed on having 1. Now that we've had one, I think my husband has come around and is pro-one-and-done and I'm questioning if we should go for 2. I think we'll probably stay with just our son, but I'm going to get an IUD, so that we can have some time to think about it.

The same. A complete miracle. After a 3 year struggle with IF and after countless fertility treatments and cycles, we conceived our twins through IVF.

Im so stuck right now. Before I had children I wanted a lot, I grew up as an only child and also had some personal tragedies in close friends and family that lead me to want a lot of children...I was up to 9 at one point in my dreams lol I dialed it back to reality after we got married but was always wanting 3 or more and my DH only wanted 2. We compromised on 3 and I thought I was done but I kind of want another now and I dont know what to do about these feelings. Do I even want another one or is it just sadness over moving on past this stage? I dont know
