We're due at the end of July and I'm starting to really focus on baby names!

We don't know what we're having yet but we do have a girl name picked out (since forever) and are still struggling with a boy's name... so this would be concerning middle names specifically.

I love the IDEA of honoring someone in my family by using their name but to be honest, we don't like any of our family names. We don't even like the nicknames or more unique versions of them, but it feels weird to not consider them. Plus, my Dad hates his name and told us he would be angry if we ever gave a child that name, lol.

That, and the fact that it seems impossible to not leave anyone out (even if they have passed on), it feels like picking sides.

I'm probably thinking about this too hard and to be honest I love a good theme and we will end up choosing names based on aspects of our life/culture, but it feels rude to forget about family names altogether. So I'm wondering how many people use them.

TIA!
