We threw it out. It was gross and made me gag a little when it finally came off. I felt bad about throwing it out for some reason, though. We just recently had his hair cut for the first time and the stylist asked if we wanted to keep some. I immediately said no because the thought made me feel icky. I just don't think I'm the kind of person who can hoard pieces of body around the house.
@Rubies: I would be so weirded out if my MIL stashed it! That's not normal.

DD's fell out into a poopy nappy and I chucked it right out. My friend (who's baby was born a week after DD) kept her baby's stump clip - I had a moment in which I felt awful and unsentimental but then I got over it! Gross!

DS's fell off while he was in the NICU, so I never had to deal with it. But, no, I wouldn't save it. I debated his baby teeth, but I even threw those out.
@Rubies: That's super gross that she got it out of the trash.

No, it never even occurred to me that that's something people might want to keep. Weird!

It fell off a couple of days ago and I still have it. I do plan to throw it out and just keep the clip as a souvenir but for some reason I'm putting it off

LO was born in Japan and all the hospitals give you a small cedar box with LO's name, date of birth, weight on it for you to put the stump in for a keepsake. LO's fell off at the hospital so they put it in the box and luckily, I didn't have to touch it.

@Rubies: you gotta flush it! that's so crazy she kept it
nope, I gagged a little when it fell off and I threw it away.
I think it's kind of cool when people keep placentas and plant a tree over them and stuff but I don't have a yard and am not creative like that.

@mynoahbear: See, this to me is sweet and kind of nice. If my hospital did this for me I'd totally keep it somewhere safe and sound.

My daughter's had no smell o.o it didn't really freak me out. When it came off I put it on my dresser near where I had changed her and completely forgot about it being there till my husband pointed it out and asked if I was saving it on purpose lol. It took me a week to actually toss it out because I was feeling sentimental lol. Now, if hers smelled it would have been a no brainer, but it was little piece of plastic lol

I went back and forth. Kept it, then threw it out, but fished it back out. I was thinking of saving it for the baby book, but ultimately it started looking really gross so I tossed it. But I still think I should have saved it once in awhile. IDK what for though.

I didn't even see DS's when it fell out, so assume it ended up in a diaper and in the trash. I would have thrown it out had I seen it.

I felt weird throwing it out but did eventually. I put it side for dh to see, he was totally grossed out and surprised I hadn't chucked it already.

No way! That thing went straight in the garbage can - luckily it fell off during a diaper change, which made it simple. I was so scared of finding it in some random place weeks later.
I guess I could have kept it in a box with his nail clippings and foreskin, but I didn't keep those either.

Ummm....eww to your MIL.
We threw ours out, but will keep a lock of her hair, and maybe her first tooth.
