For some reason, I always thought they were gross so I never touched one. I think it helped that no one in my family smoked them, so I never had a smoking "role model".
Did you smoke cigarettes growing up?

My parents both smoked cigarettes while i was growing up. I thought it was the nastied thing so i never smoked a cigarette a day in my life. I hope my son never does either as he gets older.

I smoked for 3 days in the 10th grade, to prove that I wasn't a goodie-two-shoes. Turns out I am a goodie-two-shoes, and I hated it and never did it again.

Same here, my parents never smoked and my grandparents had quit by the time I was born. I've never smoked a cigarette in my life. It just doesn't appeal to me at all.

My Dad smoked growing up, but my Mom would never let him smoke in the house, so I remember him always going outside and standing on the front porch smoking.

I smoked for 9.5 years!!!!!! I started during midterms in my first year of university...And kept on going. I quit cold turkey for 3 reasons: 1) The thought that I would be approaching a decade of smoking scared me. 2) I knew I wanted to TTC and there's no way I was going to be a smoker while doing it. 3) It's really bad for you and I don't ever want my kids to smoke.
It's been two years since I quit. Yay! Confession: I still miss it, though. It was my stress reliever, which is why I wanted nothing more than a pack of cigs during LO's first few months of life. I was SO stressed out!

Nope, never. I always thought they were nasty. Although.. some people look really cool smoking them. HAHA.

I came from a whole family of smokers. So I tried it as a teen. It wasn't for me. I'm so glad I never got hooked! It wouldve been a deal breaker when I met my husband.

I would smoke socially from HS thru my late 20s. I could smoke a pack and then not touch them for months. I don't think I have had a cigarette in 4 years. My DH states it is grounds for immediate divorce since he can't stand cigarettes.

I had friends that smoked in high school, so I tried it. I don't think I was ever as hardcore addicted as some get, but I definitely formed a habit, and smoked off and on for about 4 years. I totally regret it, and I'm glad I quit, but I still crave a smoke every now and then.

After I turned 21 and started going to bars in college, my best friend and I would sometimes share a cigarette while we were out. I have no idea why because if I even smoked I tiny bit I ended up with a terrible hangover the next day and felt SO gross. My state outlawed smoking in bars/public places when I was a college senior so my tiny little smoking habit was cut really short, thank goodness.

I tried it when I was in 9th grade. In that period of a couple months, I had about 6 cigarettes. That was the last time I smoke one.

My parents both smoked before I was born. Once my mom found out she was pregnant with me, she quit cold turkey. My dad apparently continued smoking until I was like 9... but he hid it really well because I never knew he smoked!! I seriously just found out several years ago.
I smoked from 19-22 or so, then I only smoked when I drank until a few years ago. I don't smoke at all now.

I smoked High School through college, and used to occasionally have a cigarette with friends up until TTC. I was more of a social smoker/when I drank but now with cutting out alcohol I have cut out the smokes. Two birds/1 stone!

I've never smoked a cigarette and neither has DH. Lots of my friends smoked in high school, but I was terrified of getting addicted. My sister started smoking in college, and I was so annoyed at her. Luckily she has pretty much stopped now.

I always thought they were sooo grose. Then when I joined the Navy it seemed like EVERYONE smokes. I still did not until..... I went on deployement and it was a slooooowwww one. We lost "funding" so to say to fly where we were. So we had a bon fire and drank almost every night. It was a BLAST, but I starrted to smoke when I was drinking. Which lead to smoking anytime. <sigh> I was not proud. I smoked for about 3 years or so then gave it up.

I tried it once and ended up burning my finger. Yeah, I was THAT smooth of a person. Granted this was like 8th or 9th grade at a friend's house, but yeah, it obviously didn't stick as a habit. That burn hurt REALLy bad!

I've never tried them. I used to tell people that I did just so I wouldn't have to deal with the peer pressure of, "you should just try it." But the smoke going into my lungs thing grossed me out too much.

I did for a number of years after having started when I was living in France. It was really hard to quit, and I wasn't able to until I got pregnant. Now I'm glad I did and hope my children will never start. My dad smoked when I was younger but never in front of me or my brother. I only found out because my mom bought him a ton of hard candy when he quit and before then we never had candy around.

I smoked on and off through college then regularly when I graduated for about the first year or so. One day I just had an epiphany and quit cold turkey. I haven't touched one in 6 years!

My parents smoked on and off my whole life. Smoked in the house where I breathed it.
I've never been a smoker (tried it a few times but hated it), but I've been around a LARGE amount of second-hand smoke.

My father used to smoke when I was little and he completely turned me off when he told me that not a day goes by that he doesn't crave a cigarette. And he hasn't smoked in over 10 years! It was enough to scare me into never, ever smoking.

I did for a bit in high school/early college. I'm glad I quit because it was such a gross habit to have. I really hope it's one my LO never picks up!

I smoked from 22 - 28 (Quit October of 2011).
My dad is a smoker. I used to flush his cigarettes down the toilet and got in bigggg trouble several times. I hated it growing up. Then I started serving at a restaurant and my bf at the smoked and I got addicted like WOAH.
DH is not a smoker and as soon our plans of TTC were set. I got on the patch and quit. The hardest part was breaking my habits.
Once I got past the driving, after eating, and going to the bar ... it's been an easier ride. Now we're in full swing of cycle 2 TTC and I'm off the patch and SO happy to be a non smoker.
